I know Lovie was a linebackers coach at Tamps, while they had the Tampa 2, which then Lovie took to St Louis and played the Cover 2.

The problem with the Cover 2 and the Bears is that the Cover 2, was basically a bend dont break defense, which works great when you "The greatest show on Turf" lighting up the scoreboard with Warner, Holt, Bruce, Faulk. The other has to force the ball down the field and you know it. They not only feel the pressure of the defense, but the other teams offense knows the Rams were going to score and score.

So where did this "We get off the bus running the ball" come from? It doesn't fit with the cover 2. Fact is, it might be the worst defense to play with a team that is going to be a running team?

The failure of the Tampa 2 is Jay Cutler's fault.
Orton plays much better in a Tampa 2.

I guess it all depends on your 4 man pass rush. The Bears front 4 has been inconsistent to say the least. Sometimes they look pretty good, but "sometimes" does not work with the cover 2.

No. He would say that all schemes and plays work with talented players running them. The cover 2 works with the right personnel. The problem is not the scheme it is the personnel.

Line play is the same for every team. Stop the run get the QB. If it works, anything you run looks good.

Some teams, PHILLY, goes after great corners, leaves them 1 on 1 and sends everyone else.

The packers do that, the siants do that.

The problem with the cover 2 now, is they BEND and BREAK. So if BREAK so much go after them a few times!

He would also say the Bears don't even play the cover 2 that much anymore.

I have said this many times on here. The Bears defense looked best when they had Keith Traylor & Ted Washington at DT. Still waiting for their replacements. Tommie Harris was one but he's not the same anymore.

Which tells me they can't do the Lovie-2, and they can't do the schemes they run the rest of the time. Older players with diminished skills, and new players who aren't yet ready. Position coaching, coordinators who aren't adjusting to what their talent CAN DO, and of course, talent acquisition.

Off with their haids!

Seriously, you guys might as well be complaining about all the run and shoot they play on offense, or all the 46 they play. This is such a ridiculous meme at this point. The Bears haven't been a cover 2 team in two seasons now.

Besides, correct me if I'm wrong, but it sure seemed like the defense did their job yesterday. A couple fewer interceptions -- again -- and they win.

The Bears gave up 21 points. Eight were directly a result of the interception that gave the Packers the ball at the 11. Giving up thirteen points against the Packers should be enough to win the game. Actually, it would have been enough to win the game. If not for, well, you know.

Regardless of whose fault it is on offense, 13 points is pretty good.

Let's face it, the whole team sucks.
