I'm gonna check out AVATAR this weekend, and would like to know which Chicago area IMAX screen is 'the best'.

I've got two out near me - one in Elgin, and one in Batavia.

....nuff said.

I need other options.

Been there, done that. no offense, but... oversaturated picture on the big screen.

This movie has BOMB written all over it. I still don't know if it will live up to the hype.

Hue seems a bit off, too.....not pinkish, maybe too greeny.

After all the hype, I'm surprised... the thing is getting pretty good reviews. But just one word will spoil the whole movie for you (spoiler ahead)

I like the IMAX at Navy Pier. Easy to get into and other things to do round it. I saw Speed Racer there and it was the best IMAX experience I have had in a long time. That also includes seeing my fav disney movie in IMAX.

The theater in Woodridge is always my choice when it comes to IMAX.

That's a good one. We saw the Polar Express a few years back there.

My kid saw it at the IMAX AMC in Barrington. He said it was incredible.

The newly renovated Elk Grove theater worked for me. It's my favorite place to see a movie. Audiences usually skew to an older crowd during daytime hours (when I go) & all theaters have been renovated. Free refills on pop & popcorn, too. Daytime price is usually 5.50 but I payed 8 to see avatar. Still not that bad.

If IMAX 3D is the best way to see this flick, then it's off to Woodridge I go tomorrow or Thursday.

saw polar express with the kids this weekend at the IMAX in Davenport - wow. i had underestimated how cool the 3d effects are in these movies. i need to make an effort to catch more movies that way. only $7 a head, too. thats cheaper than my normal movie ticket.

That is one thing I miss about the QCA Cheap entertainment. I saw Lion King on that Screen.

I rarely see movies in the theater. I cant stand the masses of low lifes talking, yelling cell phones, etc.

However!

Going to see this at Navy Pier, was bummed when Bro in Law told me it was only $13. I want a $25 ticket for the IMAX, eliminates the low lifes and 5 kid parties!! It doesnt have to be $25 everywhere, just one or two places.

I will post my review Tues evening

Ironic to see a Cubs season ticket holder bitching about prices that are too LOW! :P

Saw this on a regular 3D screen yesterday, and thought it was damn good. Were probably going to check out the IMAX 3D version in a week or two as I hear it's an unbelievable experience.
