The offense can play better. They need to get it in the end zone when you get in the red zone. We didn't have much of a running attack. I think they can get more consistent pass rush. We played good, but we can play better. And they still beat Favre's ass. All the haters will say, "well they suck", yes, and if it was close they would bitch "overrated", "take out Grossman". We shut out a team on their home feild opening weekend, that is very hard and the sign of a good team. The Special Teams looked great, no reason we cant be 3-0 when Seattle comes to town. I know it's only one game, but I feel vindicated somewhat after being mocked for picking them to go 11-5 and a shot at the Super Bowl, and backing Grossman all the way.

And Fuck Favre, really. I know the broadcasters suck, but he throws interceptions and that's considered, "trying to win the game", well what the fuck was he doing the first 3 quarters. He's a bad QB, throwinng bad passes. Then he runs off the field, first guy in the tunnell. Any other guy and he would get ripped, but it's white Brtett Favre, "everyone loves him, what a shame to see him turn into a bitch". It was his choice to come back, he's a bad QB and a punk.

This game was the blow out that I'd thought it be. It's not "Kool-aid" if you predict it and it actually happens.

Coach, first off I'm not flaming you, because I enjoy almost all of your posts on here; but YOU my friend are about the biggest pessimist I've ever come across. I know Green had a very good day, but it's not like this guy is some sort of pushover; save for last year, between 2000-2004 he did have the most rushing yards in the league, and Donald Driver and Robert Ferguson aren't exactly the first two receivers I'd build a team around, but they're also not piss poor in a David Terell and Dez White sort of way.

It's the first week, they just destroyed GREEN BAY at Lambeau; the D can only get better from here. Just enjoy the massacre and see what they stir up against Detroit.....you remind me of Hub Arkush sometimes, as in if the defense doesn't allow zeros all across the board you're not satisfied.

lets see..

few sacks of favrerereeeerrrr
2 INTs
0 points scored for green bay

i dont care if they give up 350 yards rushing. if they keep thier opponents off the scoreboard, thats damn good.

The offense that was so good in the first half didn't get a first down (save by penalty) in their last four possessions. Had they gotten a couple of first downs to truly salt the game away, I would've felt better about the offensive performance.
That said, 26-0 over the Pack in Green Bay on opening day is hard to beat!

Tell me about it. I sat Green and played Jones on my FF team.

Oops.

One of the things I've not quite understood about some Bears fans is their propensity to drink KoolAid on Sunday and Hemlock on Monday.

Complaints about the Bears offense in the 2nd half? Pshaw. The Bears were playing close to the vest ball control, eat the clock by running the ball offense in the 2nd half. It was a prudent approach. Had they continued to run their offense and thrown a pick or something, some of the same guys complaining would have said "what were they thinking; just sit on the damn ball." They did sit on it. Seemed wise to me.

Complaints about the Defense? Whatever yardage the Packers got in the running game was meaningless rushing yardage when the Bears were in a cover 2, protecting against a big passing play and protecting the lead. The Packers made ZERO plays running or passing when the game was in doubt. They had little chance to complete any kind of meaningful pass. They got yardage the only way the Bears allowed them to get some. What happens on the stat sheet after a game is decided is meaningless.

Stats often belie what really happened in a game. The Bears won 26-0 on the road in a game that was expected to be close. If you can point me to a more dominating performance in the NFL yesterday, I'd be interested in hearing about it.

No doubt it was a great game. We won 26-0 that's what really matters.

Upon further review I wish we had made it in when in the red zone once and Thomas Jones blocked better. I was thrilled to see some great catches by our WRs and didn't see any dropped passes.

Defense looked solid I thought. If they continue to improve they will be great.

my concerns:
4 field goals, the running game, stupid throws into triple coverage.

Coast, well made points. I don't mind that they ran the ball to eat the clock. That's the prudent thing to do. Eating the clock works better when the running game gets a couple of first downs. Too many 3 and outs in the second half for my liking.
Seeing Mushin hang onto the ball and our TE and FB getting involved in the offense was a very pleasant suprise. I'm not drinking hemlock...just drinking kool aid without sweetener.

A good win to start the season but we definately have some things to work on, I see this as a promising start to this season.

Coast is absolutely correct about the D. I saw Green pick up 10 yards on at least three occasions in the second half when the Bears were in 3rd and long coverage. He ran the old Pinkie Gentry play to perfection. Green ran well, which is good for Green Bay, but his play did not have a 100 yard rushing impact. Same with Driver.

Coast, the Ravens won 27-0 against a superior team. Still, the Bears could have easily put up 40 on the Pack.

unrelated, but...
The Lions held Sean Alexander to 59 yards on 19 carries.

This might be a stupid question...
I keep hearing about 4 fgs in the red zone. All the fgs made yesterday were from 28 yds out or more. How can this be? I thought the red zone was inside the 20.

Always add 17 yards to the line of scrimage on Field Goals Spaulding. The endzone is 10 yards (goal post stands at the end of the end zone). The snap is placed 7 yards from the line of scrimage. There is your 17 yards.

Got it. Thanks.

The 39 & 40 yard fgs is what puzzled me. I just ran through the play by play and realized we were in the redzone (barely) then got sacked/ tackled for a loss of yards that put us out of it.

LOL. Coast is spot on. Green's yardage has no meaning. The Packers were dominated in every aspect of the game. I thought Rex looked real good. He made one mistake, other than that he was great.

My biggest concern would be the running game. I know the Packers defense was pretty good last year, but I thought Jones looked bad, especially in pass protection. Is he trying to get Griese in there? Holy shit block someone!

The Cedric Benson era is nigh, my friend.
