I agree with gd on Kruetz, I think there are a number of other priorities before you get to replacing him.

Yep. He's not a probowler anymore, but he is still serviceable. You aren't going to lose because of Kruetz.

I would be more interested in the Super Bowl records of coaches with 4 years or less experience and those with 5+ over the last 20-25 years but I'm too lazy to look it up. I wouldn't count the pre-1980s since guys tended to keep their jobs longer and personnel tended to stay together longer.

So I did this for the 29 Super Bowls since 1980 because I was bored and curious.

Record of coaches with 4 or less years experience: 10-10

Record of coaches with 4 or more years experience: 19-19

So, I'm gonna say you've got about a 50-50 shot, either way. However, only 3 of those 10 wins have been in the past 15 years or so but I concede that there isn't much here. Never mind.

As usual, there are numerous ex Bears being mentioned as possible replacements for Lovie Smith. As much as I hope the Bears dont go in this direction, there are a couple of guys I wouldnt mind as head coach, & there is one guy I cant even believe is being mentioned.

1. Jeff Fisher. A proven leader & winner. By far the best choice.

2. Jim Harbaugh. A rising star who will coach in the NFL soon. What he has done at Stanford is impressive. He would be good for Cutler. Jimmy H also has the fire & passion!

3. Ron Rivera. He should still be the Bears D coordinator. He got a raw deal here. Right now his Defense is a hell of a lot better than Lovie's D.

4. Leslie Frasier. Hell no. The Vikings Defense isn't special. They have been torched a few times this year. Frasier is Lovie 2...a quiet guy who is unproven. We've seen this act before.

I still think Chico will be the next Bears head coach.

Discussions centered solely on changing the Bears' head coach is like a discussion as to who gets to take a piss on a burning building.

With the myriad front office and on-field personnel issues, I don't think it would matter if they had Leslie Nielsen as coach.

Nicely summarized.

I would go Fisher , Rivera and then Frasier though. I don't think Harbaugh is anywhere near ready - of course, I also don't think Frasier is yet either, so there ya go.

PSA: Jeff Fisher has won two playoff games in the past 10 years, none since 2004. He has gone five games over .500 since 2001, and has won his conference only four times in 16 years.

He would not be my choice of coaches IB - just my choice of previous Bear players/coaches if they went that way.

I would much rather have Cowher or Shanahan. I'd also like to be 6 ft 5 and hung like a stallion, but there are no do-overs in life -

Rivera would have been a good decision after the Super Bowl appearance. Now the only good option is Cowher.
