I like Knox, but for some reason his skill set reminds me a little of Bobby Wade.

I actually like Hub's idea of using Hester for KR/PR/3rd Down/Gimmick kind of back. He has a unique talent that should be used, but not featured like it is now

That's a uniquely shitty idea. You're getting high-level production in special teams right now anyway. And he's already returning punts when he's healthy. Why would he be better being used less? And how in the world are you going to use someone that slight in the backfield even a handful of times per game? Not to mention that you'd have to once again retrain him at a different position despite the fact that you were getting more production out of him than any other WR on the roster in his second year at the position.

Hub is genuinely retarded.

If the Bears make a coaching change, Hesters WR career is over.

How would you like to see Hester used then? I think he's more of a hindrance than asset to the WR corps especially if the Bears do get a big name The only problem is his contract is built with the WR incentives in there

He was on pace to have 75-80 receptions before his injury. How is that a hindrance? He's everything Johnny Knox is, but better. Much better.

I think the opposite. Knox has the edge over Hester.

He certainly has the edge in giving up on routes and getting jammed on the line. I'm not sure where else he's better though.

Hester is stronger than Knox and can break tackles a littler better. Speed is about the same. I agree with Irish Boy. He's not as horrible at WR as everybody says. He had a decent season. Like Irish Boy said, he was on pace for 80 catches and he might have gotten 1,000 to 1,100 yards. That's not great but it's certainly not horrible. He doesn't suck. He actually has good hands. People don't give him credit for his hands.

He only had 3 TDs. That was a little disapointing. Ya know what's weird? He got open deep more times for Orton than he did this year. Orton missed him about 4 or 5 times. Maybe he was open this year a few more times and Cutler didn't hit him.

Hester did more digs, curls and slants this season. He was more of a possesion receiver this year. He was the "go route" guy last year. That's why his TDs were down. Knox was the "go route" guy this year. That's all they trusted him with. Plus he's not strong enough to go into the middle. He'd get killed or he'd be scared to catch some passes.

This was Knox first year in the league. He will get stronger and be a more polished player next season. I also believe like spaulding that Knox is a better player and has a better future as a receiver.
In my opinion, Knox will barely see the field next year. Hester, Bennett, and just about any free agent WR will all play over him.

Knox had an above average first two games. Since then, he's really only had one productive game.

His biggest problem is that he can't really get stronger because he will get slower and that takes away pretty much any advantage he has. He's just a fast guy. I don't really see him as a great fundamental WR or a superior jumper who can get the ball.

I think he has better hands and instincts. He thinks and has better vision. Is Knox less penalized also? Neither run routes or get off the line well. I think Hester is as good as he will ever be, that's my main problem with him. Maybe Knox can learn.

Thats really not a problem, though. If this really IS as good as he ever will be, thats not bad considering he has never been a WR before. He's actually progressed pretty nicely and the WR development, however miniscule, is the one thing the Bears can hang thier hat on this season.

I don't understand this "he's just a guy" line of thinking.

I don't give a shit if "he's just a guy", if he's the "guy" who performs the best shouldn't he be on the field as much as possible? This isn't a great receiving corps as it is so when a guy shows something, leave him out there. Same with Bell at RB. So he's a third stringer....if Forte isn't doing shit stick the other guy in to see what happens.

Wouldn't this be the time to throw in Iglesias or any other young player? Why is this so fucking hard for this coaching staff to grasp?

The Bears have de-valued Hester. He was worth a hell of a lot more 3 years ago than he is now. 3 years ago Hester was a star...now he's just a guy.

Agreed. Fuck up of monumental proportions. The "he's just a guy" tag fits him perfectly.
