I keep thinking Lovie won't be fired but why are they being so weird then? Those ads in the paper are very strange and do you really call a press conference tomorrow to say hey we are not firing the head coach? Coordinators get let go all the time, if that is all they are doing why the hoopla.

This should be a weird press conference. Jerry Angelo is a bad speaker when things are going well. He's really bad in situations like this. He slurs his words cuz he's nervous. He's bad at feeding people Bull shit but he has to do it in situations like this. He wants Lovie gone but he doesn't have the power to do it. His neck is on the line too.

-Jerry will be defiant in saying they believe in Lovie.

-Jerry will call out the players and say they need to be better.

Jerry and Lovie will look uncomfortable being around each other. Some harsh things were probably said from Jerry to Lovie in their meeting. Lovie probably said some harsh things about Jerry's last few drafts. Their relationship has gotten worse since the SB when Lovie took more power. After this season it has to be worse and they are stuck with each other cuz the McCaskey's aren't gonna eat either of their contracts.

Cutler doesn't like pep.

I think they made lovie give up all power today and they will fire everybody but toub and maybe Marinelli. If he did not agree then they told him he can get the fuck out. So he has to choose between his buddies and himself.

Cuz the Bears are weird. They don't know how to publicly handle things. Jerry doesn't. Lovie doesn't. Teddy doesn't. The McCaskey's don't.

That's a good point. They might have put it to him that way. They might want to do that to him and force him to quit. If he quits they don't have to pay him. Lovie would never turn down 11 million out of loyalty to his coaches. No coach would. They would all make you fire them.

If they have the money to buy 2 full page ads then they have the money to pay Lovie and a new coach. They know this season was a horrible failure. Something big has to be done.

The ads might have cost a couple grand. That's not the same as 11 million dollars in a coaches salary. They could afford to do it. They wouldn't go bust. They just don't want to do it. It's still 11 million. Just cuz you could eat it doesn't mean you want to.

I'd think it cost them about 100K to run those ads.

No. Not with the current state of newspapers. Not in this economy. They don't have the readership to demand that type of money.

Lovie stays & gets a chance to "right the ship".

A search ensues for an Offensive Coordinator which ultimately ends up being Mike Martz.

That's a really good point Spaulding. Why kick all the players, all the assistant coaches, and all the media out? They really don't want this thing to leak out. Hopefully it's a press conference introducing Bill Cowher as the new head coach, along with his new personnel director. The report that Cowher will not be coach could be a total red herring too. A nice smooth transition, one coach and GM out, one coach in PD. Get right to business reshaping the organization immediately.

Well, one can dream, right? It really is a bizarre situation though when they clear the building like a Keith Traylor fart.
