They didn't fire Lovie Smith cuz of the money. We all know that. It is what it is. Angelo wanted to fire him but couldn't. Others with the Bears wanted to fire him too.

What if Lovie does 11-5 next year?

Then, aren't you forced to extend him with a year remaining on his deal? Just like they were forced to do so last time? Or do the Bears still fire him if he doesn't get a playoff win? Do they then get Cowher as is their want? How many coaches are fired after a playoff season? Jimmy Johnson doesn't count cuz he wanted out. He basically quit.

I'm saying the Bears could do well next year, still not like Lovie as a coach, but will have to bring him back. If they do win next year I say you still don't extend him. Make him go into his last year and win again. Don't listen to dumb columnist like Mulligan saying you have to extend him. You don't. Make him win back to back years. Make him go through his contract.

1/2 of the games vs. playoff teams from this year. No way they end up 11-5.

And it seems like we play Philly almost every year...

Careful when you play that game. Playoff teams from this year doesn't mean they'll be good next year. Forget 11-5. What if they go 9-7 and get a wild card. Are they forced to bring Lovie back even though they don't like him?

I'm interested to see what Jerry Jones does if Dallas gets bounced this weekend. His coach won the division this year. He's won it 2 out of the last 3 years. I think he still fires Phillips if they lose in the Wild Card Round.

Pre moves I am thinking this is a 7-9 season again. That's just my quick gut feel.

Beardown, if the Mike Mulligan-looking Wade Phillips doesn't get the Cowboys to Miami to represent the NFC in Super Bowl XLIV, he's as good as gone. That's the impression I'm getting.

As for the Bears and head coach Lovie Smith, thank Team President Ted Phillips for what's happened. Lovie deserves to be sent packing, but he is going to get paid no matter what. Lovie's contract has NO BUYOUT! :x

this seems like s very tough schedule. Washington, buffalo, seattle, and the detroit games seem like the only easy ones

This season, the Bears had the EASIEST SCHEDULE in the NFL based upon last year's schedule.

Everybody's fired after next season - book it.

Mama McCaskey is gonna put Brian McCaskey in charge - and he'll have plenty of time to get acclimated, as it will be a lockout season in 2011.

IB doesn't believe they'd deserve to be in the playoffs then.
