How many people would want the job with a coach on such thin ice?

2010 smells like a lame duck year.

Does Mel Kiper project the 2011 draft, because I think they will be picking in the top 10.

This is a hard question to answer. It really depends on the long term plan and who is HC next year. It wouldn't be productive to bring in a guy with a "system" and then spend all off season teaching it only to blow the whole thing up next year. If they know damn near for sure that cower will be the guy next year, then consult with him and his people and get someone that will get things moving in the right direction for his eventual takeover. If they have no idea who will be HC next year then I just want a guy whose strength is teaching fundamentals and the same with his staff. At least they can work on throwing mechanics, route running, pass/run blocking, TE blocking etc. No Martz.

Exactly -- you'll be able to pick from a lot of crappy OC candidates. If someone like Cowher does come here, he's going to want to bring his own people. Would it even be within the NFL hiring rules to ask Cowher who he wants as OC and then hire that person with the understanding that Cowher would become head coach? Would that violate some sort of Rooney rule clause?

I would like to see Al Saunders given some consideration. He was the OC for the Chiefs under Dick Vermeil, and IMO did a real nice job with their team. Of course he had the benefit of having Priest Holmes and Tony Gonzalez, but Trent Green was not a world beater at QB and their WR's were underwhelming as well, but he managed to get a lot out of them.
