Mike Martz will be the new offensive coordinator for the Chicago Bears.

Andy Maisonneuve, Bears beat reporter for the “Bearly legal Show” on 670TheScore.com , has confirmed with an inside source in the Bears organization that Martz is getting the job.

"He has not signed the dotted line yet, however my sources tell me it's a done deal" states Maisonneuve.,

Martz was with the Rams' as head coach when Smith was the defensive coordinator from 2001-2003.

Martz has a reputation for turning around ailing offenses made him an ideal candidate to help Cutler reduce his league-leading interception total in the 2010 season.

Martz was the 49ers' offensive coordinator in 2008. Before that, he was the Lions' offensive coordinator for two seasons.

He is currently an analyst for NFL Network.

His offensive coaching efforts, lead to the nickname the Greatest Show on Turf when the Rams won a Super Bowl, has been criticized for being pass happy, although his Rams twice finished fifth in the NFL in rushing.

It is possible to sink lower than the depths achieved at the press conference yesterday.

They need to get Matt Millen (former Lions GM, currently working for the NFL Network) to join Martz and Rod Marinelli. It'd be a big ol' reunion of suck.

I am all for drinking. But not driving, while drinking...old school homage to Coast.
How's that change coming along, Coast? Are things really as different and new as you thought they would be?

Sorry Jeff, Ivan said I could not explain further. Coast knows exactly what I mean and that's all that matters.
Figure it out for yourself.

Didn't Spada inform us recently that his show would no longer be affiliated with 670thescore.com?

As much as I dislike Martz, if you want to see Lovie fired next year then bringing in Martz probably get us closer to that end. However, Jeremy Bates is gonna be the Bears new OC, which is actually just as bad as hiring Mike Martz, & maybe worse.

No thanks. I hope the report ends up being wrong. Why does Lovie feel the need to surround himself with "his guys". I'm starting to believe he isn't strong enough to consider other opinions.

This is exactly why I doubt Lovie would hire Martz.

Another thing. . . I don't want Martz either, I think that is the absolute worst hire possible. BUT if we want Lovie gone next year, this maybe the best pick as it will pretty much assure next year is a disaster.

Why would Angelo or the Halases bother firing Turner then? Don't bring in a lame duck coach that you intend to fire in a year so he can teach Cutler a new system and especially one like Martz. That's admitting you should fire Lovie and his whole staff in the first place. So why not do it?

They are blowing a bigger investment in Cutler.

It's illogical if they acquire cutler and then waste him.
