Late night network TV hasn't been worth a damn since 5/22/92.

Was that when they cancelled the Aresenio Hall Show?

That was back when the only thing late night talk shows were competing against was people falling asleep.

Arsenio Hall...The last thing I remember him doing what a short-lived revival of Ed McMahon's "Star Search" on CBS a couple years ago. Moment of silence please for Ed...Thank you.

Anyway, I don't think having Jay Leno & Conan O'Brien on back-to-back once NBC wraps up the upcoming Vancouver Winter Olympics is going to work and I think Conan will ultimately end up parting company with the "Peacock". My sources say that Conan could end up going over to FOX, where he not only would bump "The Office" & "The Simpsons" reruns in the 10p hour locally on FOX32, but he could start at 10p (Central) Monday-Friday. While that could give Conan a 35-minute headstart on Jay, FOX hasn't actually hit a ratings home run in late night themselves since signing on themselves in 1987. Once upon a time, the "Fourth Network" tried to compete with talkers starring Joan Rivers & Chevy Chase. Neither show lasted long.

I think what has hurt Conan doing the Tonight Show is the fact that during the 1st half hour he's going against Colbert. I'm sure they both share a large part of their fanbases, and Colbert probably wins out.

If he were to be on 10 pm on Fox, I think he'd still take a beating.

Actually, Colonel, Conan goes head-to-head vs. David Letterman on CBS & the Ted Koppel-less "Nightline" on ABC. Dave and "Nightline" get the ratings, Conan doesn't.

Shark, I think you will be right about Conan leaving, I am a little suprised Fox would get into the late night talk show business, I know Jay did a joke about this in his monologue the other night. I think with Leno and Letterman and the late local news, that like Chevy and Joan, Conan show wouldn't last long either.
