if terry could learn how to read the roars of the day would be fine. but i'm more distracted by his inability to read the transcript to know what the hell he's talking about.

terry has some moments and harry never does. while i still think it was criminal how long that no talent ass clown mike murphy had a show, harry being on the air is just as bad. he doesn't deserve to be on a radio show. simple.

but he sure knows how to kiss ass. he's like krusty the clown.

Harry is a kiss ass that would make Sean Salisbury proud. Jurko barely brings it to the table anymore but is only good because he is so damn funny. Carmen, I would rather turn the radio off and not listen to anything than listen to this douchebag wannabe know it all. The guy is like Phil Simms, as he always wants to state the obvious as earth-shattering news. Bears D sucks here is why, and than some fucking obvious reason afterwards. I stopped listening to ESPN in the PM once Mac left, because nobody had any balls to ever do anything. Fuck Carmen and his googly eye.

I called in once since Mac left to go after something Carmen said and he hung up on me and berated me afterwards. I tried to call back and defend myself about it, but his worthless staff stayed protecting him. Fuck his show and I hope he realizes the only reason he got his show was Mac getting fired. Otherwise he would have just been on another late night show, that nobody gave two shits about and he would have been one of the ones looking to jump ship to Webbio to "better himself".

Dont tell me because the guy was nice to you that he deserves to be cut some slack. If a guy sucks than he sucks, regardless if he stayed around for a beer after the show or not.

Meh, i don't have a problem with what you wrote Chris. I just didn't know about his "googly" eye. Guess I never noticed it, or cared enough to watch while he was on TV. I can't stand listening to him though.

You guys can make fun of whoever and whatever. I was taught you shouldn't make fun of someone for something they cannot change. Plus I think it tends to detract from one's argument rather than enhance it. Most of us don't know the hosts and then it becomes personal and kinda childish. Of course I say that as a little bit of a hypocrite because I am a huge fan and supporter of name calling.

Chris, Ive managed to rip him numerous times without going after his physical appearance. Its not like a huge deal, just coulda done witgout the eye thing. (Full disclosure: I started this thread calling harry fat and i have a lazy eye) Lets not stray from the point though. Carmenowicz is terrible at radio.

Carmen really hasn't been nice to me, as I've said, he put me on the pay no mind list. He doesn't deserve slack, but I don't think he is as bad as you say. His evening shows were good and S&C were good. Carmen is not for everybody but I don't think you should Fuck him and his googly eye. You can tell me to Fuck Spaulding and her chubby tummy too I don't care but you better be prepared for what you might get back. Why take it in that direction? It doesn't make your argument more valid and it makes you look like a dick.

As for your first paragraph if you have switched over to B&B it's laughable.

OK how about this. Harry provides nothing to the show. He hasnt in years. I never tuned into MJH to hear what Harry would have to say about a HUGE Cubs win, or what Harry wanted to say about the Bears or the Blackhawks. The guy has no NUTS as he is always trying to win over the player,GM, Owner, actor, etc etc that he is talking to. Stop with the kiss ass stuff and just get to the point Harry. He has brought nothing to the table and yet for the last 8 to 10 years(since I started listening to sports talk radio) I have heard Harry on ESPN 1000 for some reason. He provides nothing.

Carmen is your Lawerence Holmes of ESPN 1000. He should only be used as a vacation guy and shouldn have his own show. I listened to Carmen and Silvy back when they were on 9-12 years ago, and hated it, because Carmen was such a smug little prick back than. For some reason the guy thinks he is GOD's gift to radio and to me and apparently many others he hasn't done shit yet. Can anyone think of ONE time they were impressed with the way Carmen handled himself or a great question that he asked that just lit up the phones for hours? I sure can't. Plain and simple he got the job because of Mac being booted. He should have bought Mac a Rolex already, because without this happening he wasnt going to do shit besides host Baseball tonight with J-Hood. Congrats asshole you have been handed your silver platter, now what you do with it is up to you. So far................Nothing!

Great. You can say whatever you want I was just telling you I don't like it. Most of the time when somebody tells me they don't like what I do I tell them to fuck off as well. Feel free to say what you want.

I would never(again) go after you Spaulding. I have learned my lesson already. I respect you and from the brief time we met I actually really like you.

It was wrong that I went after his googly lazy eye, but I hate when people think that they are better than everyone else, and thats the impression that I get from him. I was at Hero's West watching him not even interact with people in the crowd or his crew members that were taking down the stage. The guy just stood there off in the corner drinking his beer, almost as is he was too good for the people that came out to watch his show live.

Most of the time I now spend in my car on my way home I spend making phone calls to customers now setting up accounts and new sales. Im glad I dont have time to listen to either show, because honestly I would rather sit in silence.

I don't think he is a dick. I don't think he is comfortable socially and has little interest in others, but that doesn't mean he thinks he is better. He has probably had the same friends since HS type of person and hasn't branched out. I don't know and don't really care.

i don't really know why what i said was pretty harsh. it's pretty true. if you need an example of harry's asshattery, look no further than him making fun of woodridge ryan *on the air* about trying to get him into a cab when he was obviously too drunk to drive one time at a remote. even when he had a chance to apologize because even mac and jurko thought he was being out of line, harry made a deriding comment about ryan again.

he's a phony. and i can't stand phonies. i realize in the industry it's part of the game, but there's a part of you that still needs to be genuine and i've yet to see it from harry.

i used to defend harry until the WR comments. after meeting him several times and realizing he would only talk to those who bought him shots, i was done with him.

his act is very tired and i don't think he's funny. is that a nicer way of putting it?

Doesn't matter; is Harry a good radio host? Consensus is "no;" I don't care what he's like at remotes. Same is true of Carmen (with or without googly eyes.)

(I'd make the same argument for Murph: asshat in person? Drives his producers crazy? Does he put on a good show? If "yes," then I have no problem with him. Am not a microphone sniffer; am not a producer. Have no reason to know him personally.)

(I expect Carmen might be due kudos for keeping that show on-course following Mac's departure. Possibly, especially in his own worldview. Does the brass think the same way? *shrugs* )

I bought Harry two shots...in 2005.
I'm surprised about that ChrisS.C., especially since we all hung out at Arlington.

Carmen De Falco
DeFalco is not a good listen. He's still arrogant. He's not nearly as knowledgeable as he considers himself. The arrogant persona CAN WORK (See Bernstein)...but Carmen just doesnt pull it off. His anti cub feelings are waaay too transparent. I understand its human to be a fan of one team and maybe even dislike the other. Mac did this. Jurko does it. With Carmen its just more annoying and absolute. His interviewing skills are terrible especially when compared with his former partner Silvy. Going back to the days of MJH when Carmen would host it was bad. Jeff Dickerson is a way better host and an enjoyable listen in my opinion.

I think you're spot on in your assessment of De Falco. He lost me when he declared that no one at the station should be allowed to talk basketball except him, and then he caught himself and threw J Hood in there as well. I've never found his NBA or College talk all that interesting, so what was he basing this on, the fact that he hosted pre and post? If that was not the epitome of arrogance, then what is? I know some will point to Bernstein being a sports snob, but you are correct in that he can pull it off. Carmen lacks presence on the air and cannot drive a show. When he was paired with Silverman back in the day,the program was bad, and then once Silverman took the wheel the show improved greatly.

In his defense, ESPN didn't do him a favor by inserting him and instructing him ( I assume) to do the exact same show that preceded him. It comes across as unoriginal and low rent. If you had faith enough to place him on what was your #1 show, then why not let him sink or swim? Then again, maybe he doesn't have any fresh ideas of his own or just enjoys the status quo.

I think long-term feelings/opinions have a lot to do with this. It seems like the individual personalities of the hosts play a big role.

I was a die-hard, hardcore MJH fan. Listened all the time. Went to remotes. Entered/won contests. In my mind, they just had "it" that made them easy to listen to. Maybe it was filling a void, maybe it was chemistry, who knows? Therefore, I probably still have a favorable opinion of all those guys.

I've been to remotes involving all of the people being discussed here - some multiple times, some just once. I met/talked to most of them as well. For the most part, all of them are friendly, cordial, and pretty "regular". The only person I've never met on remote/otherwise is Bernstein. In person, IMO:

Jurko - awesome. Literally anyone could walk right up and carry on a conversation w/ him instantly. If you don't do that, he's gonna come up to you, so might as well beat him to it.

Harry - very, very friendly. Always willing to buy a round, possibly many. But he also has that "social butterfly" thing about him - when he's hanging out with you, he's always looking past you to see who else is in the room.

Boers - been to two remotes with him - talked to him at one w/ Holmes. It was........sterile/stale. Nothing special - both seemed like they didn't really want to be there. Just kind of going thru the motions if they weren't on the air.

Carm - actually very friendly. He doesn't seem as arrogant to me as some say. He seems more like he's perpetually "young", even though he's been around awhile now. Seems like he truly enjoys his job, which is important in this profession, IMO.

Mac - Again, very friendly. Usually spends a lot of time hanging with his "regulars" at remotes, but always makes time for everybody else. Always seems to have that frantic, 20 things to do at once type of thing going on too. Sherry (sp?) was awesome at the Cubs/Sox tailgate, so that bumps Mac a couple notches too. 8)

My bottom line to the idea of RPB's original post:
CJH is not even close to the worst show on in Chicago, even if you think it's not the best in it's slot. It seems odd to me to single Harry out as an "albatross" to his show (which may be true), when the B&B show has the same type of weight around it's neck.

That's all.

**edited for spelling/grammar FU's.

Absolutely "spot on", Spanky! Couldn't agree with you more. Never thought that I'd say that. :P

i can't tell if you're directing that at me or not. so i'm confused...

the one guy i was wrong about was jurko. i thought he was just a "social butterfly" but he not only remembered me the second and third time i met him at remotes, he was on me about doing more phil simms stuff.
