Both of my jobs I've gotten because of someone I knew that got me in the door. However, you still have to do well in the interview.

I believe I've done fairly well at both of them and thus still have them.

Many "go-getters" are guys who do the whole "go-getter" act because they have no natural talent.

Nobody gave me an oppportunity with the Bulls stuff, I did that on my own and presented it to management as an opportunity that I was exploring. Nobody came to me. Just another way for me to build my profile in this city. What favor was done for me by asking for press passes and watching god awful basketball?

I have to disagree with this. It's extremely tough to make it without getting favors somewhere along the line. Now that doesn't necessarily mean that you will have to owe everything to someone else, but it's usually a point of common courtesy among collieges to support one another. Like GD said, it's something that hopefully you don't have to ask for.

A couple of serious questions for Goff/Drinky: Is the ultimate goal to become a full-time host? Have you ever been given any sort of timeline by the Score as to when you can become more integrated into the regular lineup? Have you ever considered looking for full time hosting responsibilities in smaller markets as a way of developing a portfolio for when big-time slots come up?

Also, have either of you ever considered doing something some sort of internet venture? I don't mean that as a swipe at webio, but AM sports talk radio is going to take a long-term hit with declining advertising revenue. However, cream tends to rise to the top on the internet, and something like a 30-minute, three times a week podcast where you maybe have a different guest each show could be a good way of both getting your name out there and maybe developing your own book of advertising, if you can put out a good product.
