We get KG in street clothes again. Love to see a Joakim crotch-grab...

Doug Collins really loves Taj Gibson.

Deng too. He said when he is right he has the best mid range game in the NBA. I knew there was a reason I liked the Bulls next head coach.

Taj had a great game last night. It probably helped that KG wore a suit on the bench, but Gibson and Noah still played well.

taj has already far surpassed tyrus thomas. hes more mature. plays with a level head and stays within his skill set. i really like him in the starting lineup. if only they could keep james johnson off the court. how did that guy get picked ahead of taj? or at all? might as well put dickey simpkins back out there

He played pretty well but everytime the guy touched the ball Collins was giving him some knob slobber.

That's stupid and lazy of Doug. It's a way for him to try to compliment Deng in a way that stands out and is unique, but it is completely false. On Deng's best day, he still wishes he had Kobe's mid range game. There's probably a dozen players with better mid range games right now when everyone is "on"

So Deng has a better mid-range game than Kobe?

Of course not. It's still really good. It's always been good. This year he has expanded his shot. I can't think of a small forward that has a better mid range game. Paul Pierce is deadly from the corner of the free throw line but Deng is money all around the court. I would put Deng in the top 5. That's a great weapon to have when you have a guard like Rose.

Come on Nas, even this is a stretch. Carmello, LeBron, heck even Caron Butler and probably if I took the time I could come up with others.

No. Maybe Melo but Lebron doesn't have a great mid range game. Butler isn't in the same league either.

There's absolutely no question Carmelo's mid range game is better. Caron Butler's is also. Danny Granger's certainly is. Durant, PP, and Rudy Gay are at least as good, probably better mid-range. These are just SF's.

It wouldnt hurt to actually watch other teams besides the Bulls Nas.

Yeah I forgot Granger, his is clearly better than Deng's and I think Durant's is as well.

I think the feelings you guys have about Deng as a player is the reason you all undervalue his mid range game. It has always been good but it appears it has gotten better this year.

when deng is on he can be as good as any small forward with his mid range game. but he is not always on and i think the thing that hurts him is that his game isnt nearly as good as lebron carmelo or durant in other aspects of his game. so his shooting skills might get underplayed. also he hasnt shown he can make the big shot like those other players have time and time again

How many non-Bull games have you watched this year? I think your overvaluing his mid range game comes from the fact that he is mainly the only SF you see on a consistent basis and you have always had a hard on for him.

I watch enough basketball that I would be willing to put my basketball IQ up against anyone on this board and anyone in sports radio in Chicago.

I dont dislike Deng. I like him. I have always liked him. I said before the season that he should have a good rebound year and that he was healthy and ready to get back to form from the 3 years ago. That being said, there's no way he's a better mid range shooter than Carmelo or Danny Granger. There's nobody else I can think of that would agree with you on that.

I value your basketball IQ, but I also know what I am talking about when it comes to the NBA and basketball in general. It's clear that you are the only one in this discussion letting your feelings about Deng affect your analysis.

I said I would put him in the top 5. When I look at Melo and Granger I think of them more as outside shooters. Not guys that take the 10-15 foot shot.

He's not top 5 in the league. I dont know where you're even coming up with that from. He's a borderline All Star-caliber player right now, and this is the best he's ever played.

Why would you think Melo is only an outside guy? He's probably the best overall scorer in the NBA not named Kobe. And it's absurd to think Deng is a more pure mid-range shooter than Granger.

I acknowledge Melo. Having a great mid range game doesn't make you an elite player. It's really a lost art. I guess if we could find a shooting chart it would take the subjectivity out of this debate.

I highly doubt it, you would still find a way to make excuses for why Deng is better.
