My best friend's sister was found dead in her apartment yesterday. Apparently, there was no signs of foul play or drug use, but an autopsy is happening today. I'm 30, and she was a year or two older than me. She has two young children, a boy and a girl. I used to watch the little guy at night when she would go to work. I haven't seen her as much over the fast few years as I did back in the day, but I've always been a part of their family. I'm absolutely stunned right now. She was way to young to die. R.I.P.

I don't even have the words to express how hollowed-out I feel reading something like this. It must not seem real on some level, it's so unimaginably sad. I'm just very, very sorry.

My thoughts are with you. Life is too short. This is a somber reminder to enjoy every day of it.

Wow JB, I am truly sorry. I lost a lifelong friend last summer, and I know how jarring it is. Godspeed my friend.

Thanks to everyone for their thoughts. It's pretty surreal right now. I'm still stunned. When I hear more, I'll pass the info along.

JB,

I can't find any words. I can't imagine the pain and sense of loss. Hopefully just coming here and talking to us morons will at least take your mind off of things until some of the pain subsides.

I'll keep her family in my prayers.

J.B.- I can't imagine how you feel right now. I would be stunned as well. My condolences.

Again, thanks to everyone for the kind words.

While I'm not at liberty to give the results of the toxicology (preliminary, official won't be ready for 12 weeks) report, I do have something to say. If you, or anyone you know has a problem with drugs or alcohol, get some help. Don't wait until it's too late. Open up to the people around you because they WILL help if you ask, but can't help if you don't. Life is way too short already to have it end prematurely because you are too proud or embarrassed, or or don't think you have a problem big enough to ask for help.

I will be attending a 34 year old woman's funeral on Monday because she didn't seek out anyone's help. Even when help was offered to her, she turned it down. Her children will NEVER be the same. Don't let this happen to you, or to someone you care about.
