a caller by the name of larry called in around 640 this morning to the show and he was going after mully for stating that the sox had a drug policy in place since 1986. mully had to explain that they were just repeating soemthing they heard hawk say at the fan convention and it was later found to be untrue via a source inside the sox. the caller then said the sox were hyporcrites for signing guys like albert belle (though he never tested postive to my knowledge) and trading for tyler flowers. has flowers tested positive for PED's at all does anyone know? i hadn't heard anything like that

I have no idea about Flowers, but I'd be willing to bet almost anything that Belle juiced. Anyone out there who has ever seen his "Joey" Belle LSU photos would probably agree.

This list says he got a 50 game suspension in August, 2006 but it does not specify what substance he was banned for.

PED's don't necessarily mean steroids or HGH. It also includes a huge list of stimulants, appetite suppressants and fat burners like Ephedra. It even includes drugs like Provigil (often used for narcoleptics).

I don't recall what Flowers was suspended for. What I remember is that he said he wouldn't have done it in hindsight, which leads me to believe he knew he was doing something wrong at the time and it wasn't an accident.

FLAXSEED OIL!

I don't think they report what they tested for , at least they are not suppossed to, for his fitty game.

Has any player said he would do it again? and Yes, I mean that. Someone has got to think he understood all the risks and the fact he took something that COULD cause harm to him, but has financially secured him and his family for years, I am sure some player is OK with what he did?

I have had this conversation with one player a good 5 years after he retired. He was friend of a friend and we went to a Cubs game. He told me he used. Only used for 1 month. Dec-Jan, went to camp, all pumped up, had a career year, signed a $35 million deal, set for life, had an OK year after that, got injured played bench role for next 2 years on 2 teams and retired.

Make your guess who he was, or is? Not a Cub or Sox player.

My first thought was Brett Boone, but he most definitely used for more than one month.
