From the sports guy:
Bulls get Ray Allen and Eddie house (both expire after this year)
Sacremento gets Deng and the Scalabrine and Tony Allen expiring deals
Boston gets Kevin Martin, nocioni, and Hinrich.
Who says no?
That deal could create enough space for lebron, bosh AND Johnson. I think I just blacked out.

Is this an actual rumor or just something someone created as a pie in the sky Sam Smith possibility?

Really? Obviously Im guessing this is assuming Salmons opts out and Tyrus signs a offer sheet with another team.

Immediately do this deal. I dont think I'd do it if I was Sacramento though

I would do this deal. But for humor's sake, I hope the Bulls could land Scalabrine's expiring deal.

Bill Simmons usually releases 1-2 NBA articles a season with these kinda trade possiblities. Alot of them are compelling though, and he's much better at it than Smith. This 3 team deal makes alot of sense for Boston and Chicago. I dont know about Sac-Town though. They basically are trading Martin for Deng, with the benefit of getting out of the Noc contract.

This doesnt address their dire need for front court help though.

Tyrus doesn't matter. They aren't counting him toward their salary cap because he doesn't have a contract for next season.

The more I think about it, sac would probably be the most hesitant for the reasons farce fan gives. They may look at it as being able to get out of the Martin contract as well though. He hasn't played nearly as well since the injury.

Oh, they can renounce the rights to tyrus, so he can come off their books at the end of this year and become an UFA.

If this website is accurate, and Salmons doesnt opt out, they would have $17 million tied up with only 5 players on the roster. That would leave them with $33-35 million in cap room to use. If they signed two max guys, they would have to fill the other 5 spots with minimum-only guys, except for a possible MLE to use in the area of $5.5 million/year.

If they trade deng and hinrich, that gives a lot more minutes to salmons at the 3, where he played well last year. Wishful thinking, but maybe he plays himself into a new deal (with another team).

Yeah, I'd have to call it a 50/50 right now. I can definitely see a team giving him a full MLE deal, which basically is what he would be making next year, except for the 5 years.

Yeah I get that. I guess what I am asking is this: Is he posting this stuff from rumors or insight that he has that these teams are actually talking about this possibility or he is just putting trades together that might be a possibility but he has no idea if anyone is actually talking about it or not?

If I had to guess, I'd say it's mostly the latter. He does apparently have a friend who's pretty high up in Boston's front office though, and regularly talks to people that cover the NBA for a living. So I'm guessing he basically makes this stuff up, but some of it is probably based on things he's heard, as he's obviously much more well informed than you or I.

This is Simmons just throwing shit out there. All of his ideas are usually pretty good, but they never happen.

He has campaigned for two GM jobs in the past, but nobody would ever give him that job.

The MLE won't be nearly $7M next season. There is no way he opts out.

+1, they'd technically have to renounce his rights, as the RFA status creates a cap hold until you re-nounce the players rights. But you're absolutely right - there is no reason to trade Tyrus for cap reasons, because he's essentially an expiring contract for them.

I just ran a trade through the ESPN trade machine on my own. Here goes:

Magic - Bulls

Magic
Kurt Hinrich

Bulls
Matt Barnes - expiring deal
JJ Reddick - expiring deal
Brandon Bass - 3 years $4mil/per

I like it.

The current deal ALLEGEDLY being discussed with the Magic is:

To Magic:
John Salmon

To Chicago:
JJ Reddick (RFA, can be non-tendered like Tyrus)
Anthony Johnson (expiring)

I agree. Getting that $6M off the books would guarantee 1 full boat guy and allow the Bulls to hold onto Kirk if they want to. I want them to deal for a Bosh this year because that would guarantee they have at least 1 guy. If it takes giving away 3 1st round picks they should still get it done.

If Lebron and Wade resign with their respective teams and Bosh signs with someone other than the Bulls, in hindsight, would you make any of these moves knowing you're left to compete for Stoudemire, Johnson, etc.

Yes. Getting rid of Kirk and Salmons would be worth it. Don't forget about David Lee too.

I like Lee, but wonder what his numbers would be like on a good team.

David Lee couldn't defend an ice cream cone from a 3rd grader. Great offensive player and rebounder, but he's a liability on the defensive side of the court.

You may be right. It would love seeing him and Noah playing together. That type of play is contagious.

Jack what Lee does could be done with good teams too. He hustles and grabs every rebound near him. He can score too but like Noah he doesn't care about it.

No way. He's about properly rated I believe. I still say Rondo is, as incredible as that is to believe.

Yeah, that would definitely be the concern, and I'm assuming the reason he isnt attracting much bigger attention yet, despite a much improved jump shot.
