On Ch.2 10 pm News,Rob Johnson ended the broadcast by blasting Mr. Emanuel for using the word "retarded" in a statement about fellow Democrats. Rob has a brother with a disability and takes offense with the "common" use of such verbiage. He says people think using the word makes them feel clever but they are just ignorant.
Wonder if the WSCR team of Boers & Bernstein were listening!

Not a fan of the word either, but I admit I let one fly every so often.


And I too am surprised 670 let's them use it, but I do also see a different between calling someone a retard and calling them a "Football retard." Retard is an actual word that holds meaning, so it does have its uses.

From what I understand, there are more kids with this or autism (or both) today than when I was a kid in the 60s. Hell, I'm trying to recall seeing short buses in that timeframe, and am drawing a blank.

How many people are on meds for different mental issues? Even on this board?

You can easily replace it. No reason to use that word.

Far more people are being diagnosed as Autistic because doctors are more apt to diagnose it as such in cases where they previously would not have. Jenny McCarthy and the idiot "vaccines give you autism" fools don't help things either.
