I text this into the show:

Bulls get Ray Allen for Thomas, Hinrich, and Salmons.

The deal works in the ESPN Trade Machine.

Am I crazy, or does this deal not work out on all levels for both teams? Bulls get serviceable expiring contract. Celtics get younger and have parts to bolster sagging positions. I know Salmons is the weak link but he is still cheaper than Allen.

Flame away!!

Thanks for making me think the Bulls actually acquired Ray Allen.

Just what they need is an older Ben Gordon! Wouldn't do it for NAS (Hovas) bling

I guess the difference between BG and RA (today) is that RA is gone after this year. BG would have clogged the salary cap for 5 yrs.

Bulls could offer RA the MLE in 2010. It's available isn't it?

Fuck the cap! they play the same fucking game, Ray Allen will not help this this team go deeper in the playofffs, and 3 for one with a team that isn't deep is just goofy. You make RFDC look like a genuis. Another asshat :!:

Soooo, what I take from your completely rational thesis...

-The Bulls shouldn't worry about the cap and, it follows, they shouldn't worry about adding a two top tier FA's with Salmons on the books

-Losing three players is bad, really bad

-The Bulls are going deep in the playoffs with the current team

Well, call me straightened out. You don't happen to run AIG do you?

They will never get 2 top tier players
Three players that log a Lot of minutes is really bad
They will go deeper than with just Ray Allen
You my friend make me look like Hubie Brown
PS the heads of AIG are STILL getting bonuses

My POV (granted:clouded by my asshat) on the current Bulls season is that they will get no higher than 5th in the east. They may surprise a Boston or Atlanta in the first round and then get pasted in the conference semis.

I am hearing whispers in the Boston Herald that the C's should get younger by unloading Allen. It could have been written by Beantown's Jay Mariotti for all I know. I'd like to say it's "My Guy" but I want to give Terry Boers another week to claim this possible trade as his own.

It got me thinking that, yes, in sacrificing this year's title run: get an expiring short term hot hand. In 2010-11 I think Thomas is a goner anyway, Salmons and Allen switch teams, and the Celtic's have long rumored to like Hinrich.

I agree that the Bull's would be thin at guard as a result. But (God help me, I'm saying this) the main assets are in place for the Bulls to bag the elephant. (Cue - Marv in "Wall Street": "Gekko!") >>>Lebron<<<

In the summer, I like to pull my asshat low over my eyes like Joba.

Ray Allen is only good if theres an inside scoring presence. He'd have to creat his own shot and he cant do that anymore without breaking down. If we have had a young Adrian Dantley or Kevin McHale maybe. But not now. Hinrichs defense alone is worth keeping. I just wish he shot better. He and Rose play well together.

Whats T. Prince's contract status. I love his game.

You obviously have absolutely no clue why the Bulls would trade for him, huh?

Ray Allen would just be a rent a player for the rest of the season. His value to the franchise is his high expiring contract. The fact that he might be able to hit a jump shot would be a bonus for the rest of the season. If he lands here, he will not be back the following season unless it is for a mid level expection deal, or a very low value/low risk contract. Any move that opens up cap space is a plus, doesn't matter who it is for. The Bulls are at the very best a 2nd round exit team this year, they need to make moves for next season.

Cuz Derrick Rose has no ability to break down the defense and kick out?

Ray Allen, whose real value is what he will be after the season, can knock down the open shot with the best of him. What you give up with Kirk vs. Ray is defense, but Ray brings that much more to the table offensively.

He can create his own shot too. Most people see him as a shooter but he can put the ball on the floor and get to the basket. I would love to get Jesus Shuttlesworth's contract and I think he could help the Bulls advance in the playoffs this season. He may be worth bringing back for the right price.

He was the primary reason the Bulls lost to the Celts in the first round.

Love the Jesus Shuttleworth reference ....
