She's been heading downhill for the past year or so. We were called to her nursing home last weekend as they thought the end was near. Today was the day.

Wasn't close to her really until I got married. She took to my wife. Not being closer to her earlier on has to be one of the biggest regrets of my life.

Sorry for your loss, at least you were able to visit with her before the end.

Agree with T-Bone on both thoughts.

I am always happy for people who have been able to live a long, meaningful life who get to see grandchildren.

Sorry for your loss, but it was a life well lived.

My prayers to you on this, C.

Now that I'm married and have a couple of kids, I really miss my grandma. She would have loved our kids and my wife.

I feel the same way. I was cheated out of many years of fun with my grandma - cancer took her at 75, I was 10.

C - Sorry for your loss.

Sorry about your loss, C.

I lost my Grandmother in much the same way last year, so I know how it Fealz. :eye: Sorry, just tryin' to throw a touch of bad humor in there during this tough time.

It's difficult to see and go through, but it's just an unfortunate part of life sometimes. Best wishes.

She was actually with it through age 92. Then she broke a bone in her ankle and sat around on it for an undeterminable length of time. It wasn't until her one son was coming in from Texas (and she told us she wasn't going to go see him) that we knew something was wrong. She always made an effort to see him when he came to town. That's when we found out she fell. Then when my parents got to her building they heard three different stories about when she fell (from a week to nearly a month), but they did get her to the ER...

Then she developed some sort of lung inflamation just before Christmas. That turned into bleeding, and a diagnosis of cirhosis. She kept being shuttled back and forth from the hospital to a rehab facility. One of her last visits to the hospital she developed a MRSA infection. Finally Medicare ran out, so they just sold all of her possessions and found her a Medicaid bed at Manor Care in Elgin. Actually a fairly nice facility.

Went through a few bad bouts of bleeding, which prompted the call last weekend...Apparently she went peacefully this morning at 8:30 with another son at her side.

Thank you all for the condolences. They really are appreciated.
