I was looking for something on youtube and came across the goofy video WGN did during the summer of 08 to Go Cubs Go.

How WGN has changed. The only person in the video still in the same timeslot as he was back then is Steve Cochrane. It features Kathy and Judy and Spike who are all gone. And the soon to be gone John Williams was on in the afternoon.

Ted Koppel: Alright. On page 167, the author continues: "I was on Ched Choppel's show 'Pightline', when, during a commercial break, Ched confessed to me that he often engages in autoerotic asphyxiation." Now, that was unnecessary. And then it goes on to say: "It was on Ched's show that At Buchanan and Teve Torbes first agreed that Dob Bole should drop out. At said, 'Teve, what about Dob?' Then Dob motioned for At to come towards Steve.." [ text appears on screen ] .."Teve Torbes, At, Dob Bole, Uchanan, Ucotos, Ucomos, Ucant, Teve, At, Bole, Dat, Boba Fet, Toni Kukoc, Bee-Bo-Bo, Lamar Alexander 2." Gentlemen, reactions?

Steve Forbes: That's wonderful writing!

Bob Dole: Ah, I've just got one thing to say to you, Teve Torbes - tuck off!

Ted Koppel: And that's all we have time for. Thank you, gentlemen, for joining me. From all of us at ABC News, this has been Ched Toppel in Washington, and good night.

That is a classic SNL sketch. Norm Macdonald's Bob Dole was one of the most underrated political characters on SNL.

Were you looking for a recording of "Hey Hey, Holy Mackerel"? There used to be one with a bunch of animal mascots dancing to it and now it's gone.

Really? Interesting. I always thought he was very very average.

The weekends have gotten so much worse since October '08, too. Simon Badinter, sweet lord almighty.

They have pretty much squashed Nick D too. I still like him but he's seemingly gotten his hours cut...Jim Laski gets slots now...same for Jerry Agar.

The new guy running WGN Radio is ruining a once great station. The only good move he has made was hiring Garry Meyer. I was never a big fan of Garry's but he is actually much better than I thought he would be. Cutting the sports shows on the weekend in favor of that French fucker Simon is a shame. Lotsa rumors that Johnny B might be joining WGN taking John Williams slot.

Has he invaded France yet?

I've only heard Agar a few times and was not impressed. He sounds amateurish and whenever he gets even a little worked up abut something he sounds like he's going to cry.

Is Laski "Elton Jim" from Meier's show?

I used to really dislike Digilio. I dislike him less now but still find him to be a difficult listen on the rare occasions I tune in. The sound of his voice and his delivery sometimes reminds me of Jay Marvin.

Laski was a former Chicago city clerk who got pinched in the Hired Truck scandal. From his bio in his recent book:

While serving his third term in office, Laski pleaded guilty to taking $48,000 in payoffs to get companies into the city's scandal-plagued Hired Truck Program following a two-year federal investigation of the scandal-plagued program that was designed to save money by outsourcing the city's hauling work to private truckers but which prosecutors say is awash in corruption. He pleaded guilty to one count of bribery and was sentenced on May 25 2006.

Jim paid his debt to society, serving 11 months in the Federal Penitentiary in West Virginia

Thanks, Vince. I didn't know that.

Federal Penitentiary in WV...that doesn't sound pleasant.

Nick D is the best guy on the station. Is it true that Dan Zampilio works at WGN now?

Maybe it's just the time of night, but Brian Noonan is alright. I actually like him when he fills in for Steve and Johnny.

I used to like Nick D, but he's gone downhill a little for me. One time he spent an entire hour losing his shit over Radio Shack marketing itself as "The Shack." Seriously, a whole hour.

I don't know. What I'd really prefer is that the Blackhawks were back on 670 so Extension 720 is on more than like three times a year.

I did not know who Jim Laski was or his background story but my god, he's sounds like such a Chicago meatball. He's constantly screaming into the microphone. He's definitely PTFB for me.

I do like Nick D.'s show, but I only listen in small doses. He's about as edgy as they come for WGN.

Feder had a tidbit about Cochran likely being out this spring and it would make sense to bring Brandmeier into that afternoon spot.

I remember WGN as the senior citizen's station even back to the 90s? I know they were trying to get more younger but throughout the last 10 years but what's the status now? Didn't know Garry Meyer was on the station.

Still a senior citizens' station but for newer senior citizens, the ones who remember the glory days of AM1000 fondly. It's only a matter of time before Dahl and Brandmeier come over, possibly with the aid of walkers. Why stop there? Grab Bruce Wolf, Buzz Kilman, Kevin Matthews, and maybe even Danny Bonaduce if you're feeling sporting. Whether it's the Loop, CKG, or WGN, it will always be 1990 somewhere on the dial.
