I have known Mike for years. Well before the A Hole got on the air. He isn't a good guy. He is street scum. Sure now that he has some money, he plays the part, but he has been a lieing scumbag ever since he was selling dogs.

Notice when he starts arguing on air he always gets personal. Always turns into a hot head. On air he tries to curtial it after he starts because he knows he becomes the real jerk he is for everyone to see.

I do give him props for selling some Executive fools on his contract.

I worked at the Score for several years and yes Mike North is a major league jag weed, but who doesnt know that? If you know him so well, why dont you let us know how much he had to do with Tom Shaer being fired and how he threw a fit when they were going to let Jesse go awhile back. You also must know the real reason Buch left.

I have enjoyed reading Rocks defense of Mike, that defense coming from a guy who North craps on daily. I am surprised Rock has lasted this long, because when he first started, it was obvvious to everyone in the office that North wasnt going to be his whipping boy.

Boy, I hated that place and I dont miss it, but i sorta miss the soap oprea crap that goes on there.

Dear XScoreGuy:

Please elaborate on the above.

Hey X,

Were you smoking dope while you were there? I am not a bigfan of Pappy either, but lets not post fiction here.

North had NOTHING to do with Shaer being let go.

Jesse wasn't going to be let go by anyone.

And Rock gets treated better by North than any other host he has worked with. Just ask him.

As for Buch leaving, who knows. Just go ahead and make something up like the rest of your post.

And, with that, the air went out of my "The Idiot hating" balloon.

North was bending the ear of Gleason and Jeff for months and he went to them everytime there was a issue with Tom, no North didnt have final say, but Jeff and Goose let Mike have his say, which is more then most of the on air talent had.

I do have to say that Tom was a huge A-Hole though. He had that " I am tv star" attitude and he treated the producers like crap, so it wasnt like a huge loss. The best was when Memlo wanted to take him outside for a beating.

its too bad that Memolo did not get his chance. Mike needs it for sure. i am not surpised by some of the news but i never realized how much Terry Boers was disliked at the station.

Jiggs is another one that comes off as being nice so I was of course shocked to hear that he is not.

Guess you never know.

X, what the skinny on Murph and how does he treat his peeps ?
Thanks !!

Uhhh . . . are you serious? Murph is the biggest dick that has ever breathed on a Score mic. He's like a 47 year old woman who is perpetually going through menopause, except he has the ability to channel his hot flashes into hot air.

As for North, while he may be a bear to deal with sometimes, the guy is just not right. I can recall him simply putting himself in the middle of just way too many situations at the station that didn't involve him - the reason? Like anyone who has an over-blown sense of power, he is paranoid. You are either with him, or against him, in his mind.

The best thing you can do if you work at the Score is to stay the fuck away from him. If you are unlucky enough to have to deal with his show, too bad - if not, despite the attraction you feel that is eerily similar to watching the aftermath of a car accident, keep rolling by.

There's a method to Murph's prickness.
How many times a week does he talk about "cramming a five-hour program into two hours"? He hates that he's been down-sized, going from the morning shift to just two hours.
His bitterness bleeds too much onto the air.

I'm not sure who told you Jiggs isn't a nice guy. But that person is wrong. He might not be the best radio host in the city, but he's a great guy. I interned for McNeil and him in 2000 and was never treated poorly by either of the hosts.

I don't know why some of you guys just assume a rumor is true.

Read this back in the day when I was not yet posting on this board but perusing it...interesting stuff from some old Score employees.

A former associate of mine witnessed Shaer rip into a producer in front of his son. After 5 minutes of ripping into this guy, he calls me to let me hear part of it as it was happening. Not pretty.

Felt I should comment here because some former employee is too afraid to show his shadow. Must be 6 more weeks of winter or something that might happen if he reveals himself.

Mike at heart is a nice guy, but as a "personality" on the air he was the boss. You never say anything about your boss in the public forum that could get you called in the office/suspended/fired. If you do, than you're asking to be let go.

There are alot of things that happened in those 4 years that will forever remain silent because it was frankly no ones business but ours (the show's). The way we (the show) "rolled" was us against them which I must admit I didn't agree at all. I feel a station that works like a team performs better than when the main players are out there for their minutes and pad that stats a little.

As far as Mike being "not a good guy"....off the air and personally you'll never find a better guy that looked out for everyone else before himself. He knew he was lucky to get that 5 yr deal and become the first million dollar talent on the stations airwaves. He made sure to go out of his way to watch out for his people and make sure they were taken care of. Let's face it, I'm in a profession that doesn't pay much....Mike always insisted on helping out and he did. When Christmas came it was always presents and a nice bonus for hard work. We celebrated everyone's birthday with cake and presents. Love him or hate him....he enjoys being with his guys and enjoys life.

As far as a professional....that's where you could criticize Mike. He (like any other boss) demanded the absolute best of his people all the time. Of course he yelled, screamed and sometimes insulted his staff....but he wanted to be the best. As Fred had said time and time again....it was Mike's Show. That's why the title of the show. The MNMS. Did he go over the line sometimes...that's debateable. Again, there are some things that will never be talked about...maybe they'll show up in his book.

So if you think I came on here as a mouthpiece for North....that's your opinion and you have the right to that. At least I had the balls to come on here....discuss what's going on....and not have to hide behind an alias like some Score/X-Score people I know. All I know is this....I'm still here....and now I'm starting to progress in my field with the on-air shifts I've been getting as of late. That's all I ever wanted....was to work and grow as a broadcaster. I'm finally getting my shot.

I'm glad you are doing well Rock. However, the posts were from 2006. BTW, I doubt anyone would care to read a book by someone who can't read a book. North is a jagbag and always will be. Hopefully, Comcast ends his sorry career quickly and he moves on to another city and attempts to pollute the airwaves somewhere else.
He might have demanded the best of everyone, but he was and is an awful, unprepared, illiterate goof and all his shows sucked as does the current one. He stole money from stupid people. Good for him, but money never made him a good radio listen. The on air talent of the MNMS was terrible and HE did this to himself.

Thanks for your post Rock! I get a kick out of the behind the scenes dramatic stories that are posted.
I got the same impression of North when I interned there to. He had "his guys", but don't cross him or piss him off. I had no problem with him really, but I didn't work that closely with him either. You never know how things are until you're in another man's shoes. I'm guessing that's why so many people feel such animosity towards North. All I can say is that you need to be thick skinned and just let shit roll off your shoulders...don't take things personally. The entertainment field can be a beast; just ask the DoP on the new Terminator movie or the character of "Guy" played by Frank Whaley on "Swimming with Sharks".

With McNeil & Boers back in '97 at the palatial Belmont pad. Spiegs and The Eaglo were a joy to work with. All in all, a pretty enjoyable experience.

Sorry Rock, just because a guy throws money at you and then expects unquestioned loyalty, that does not make a good guy.

I work for a very succesful guy and never seen him scream or yell at anyone.

Looks like you came to keep your bridge unburned, which is cool, but look under the money and we all know North is dirt.
