Here is the official word from the Bulls web site on the Salmons deal. There were also draft picks involved.

Quote:
The Bulls traded John Salmons to the Milwaukee Bucks for Joe Alexander and Hakim Warrick on Thursday. In addition, Chicago traded its regular second round draft choices in 2011 and 2012. Milwaukee also has the option in NBA Draft 2010 of switching first round picks with Chicago, so long as the pick is not a top 10 selection

Any chance the Bulls can move Hinrich and complete this trade trifecta? It appears the rumor with the Lakers is dead, and now that the T-Mac sweepstakes is over, I don't think any more significant moves will be made before 2:00.

So do they have enough for two max deals now?

They will have enough for one max deal.

I havent been following it that closely but I thought they were gonna be in position to get one as it was. I thought clearing Salmons and Tyrus off the books would open it up.

Is it too early to add Tyrus Thomas to the "Marc Columbo All Stars" of former Chicago athletes that perform slightly better than they did here and therefore become a great area of angst for Chicago fans who wish they were still here?

Tyrus doesn't really save you a whole lot of cash, it was just the ol addition by subtraction thing

Hinrich is the one they need to move....if anything I'd be surprised if they didn't and yet were able to get rid of Salmons. I would have thought it would be the other way around

Yeah, the Tyrus move got us back equal expiring money. They just wanted to get something of value back for a guy they have no intention of re-signing. A first round pick from Chrlotte should be about middle of the round next season, and right outside the lottery. At least it's something.

Per the Tribune, the draft pick from the Bobcat is "protected" - which most likely means that the Bull would not get the pick if it's a lottery pick: http://www.chicagobreakingsports.com/2010/02/bulls-in-tyrus-talks-bucks-trade-finalized.html

So assuming everyone who can be set free following this season is gone, how much will the Bulls be under the cap? I don't know the exact salaries, but it seems that between Miller, James, the new guys & the old man they should be about 22 million lighter than the current load...no?

So does this mean that Lebron basically has his choice between Cleveland, Chicago, and New York and that no other team, even the Nets, are a threat?

Let's not forget Washington, which also has a lot of $$$$ coming off their books. Why would LeBron want to leave though?

Cleveland is a shithole

If the Cavaliers don't represent the East in the NBA Finals, Mike Brown's fired as head coach and then we wonder if LeBron sports the blue & orange of the Knicks or the blue & white of the Nets...

That is how it seems to me. The only other team I have heard mentioned is the Clippers, but cmon, it's the Clippers. So I have to think it is one of those 3 places.

Well I guess BR, we are wrong, at least according to Bill Simmons. From his twitter: Official LBJ Sweepstakes: Cavs, Bulls, NYK (favs); Mavs, Clips (sleepers); NJ, Mia, Hou, LAL(longshots). And so it begins.

The love for Tyrus on the Bulls website comment section is mind boggling and borderline hilarious. These guys are acting like they just traded away Jordan.

I've read it's going to be something like $20 million in cap room this summer, but I believe a max free agent will cost something like $15 or $16 million (that does seem a little high).

Chris Richard was cut. My fantasy team is screwed. Why are they not releasing Grandpa? This team has 7 guards.

Miami the Wolves and Washington too. There is always the possibility of a sign and trade. No one talks about it but the Lakers haven't given Kobe an extension yet. Next season is the last year of his deal. They traded Shaq so I don't believe trading him is out of the question. It could be a very interesting or boring summer. I think Wade will leave.

What about if they trade Kobe, and sign Lebron?

That's too big of a risk. What if LeBron doesn't sign? What are you left with? What are you getting for Kobe? They were able to part with Shaq because after all was said and done they still had the best player in the league...
