He is wrong. Only way Lakers, Mavs and Rockets pull that off is a sign and trade. Other than that you can forget about it.

It isn't the fault of everyone else that you don't get it. If they come away with none of the big free agents, yes, the moves will not look as good. Save the moron comments. Thank you.

That's too big of a risk. What if LeBron doesn't sign? What are you left with? What are you getting for Kobe? They were able to part with Shaq because after all was said and done they still had the best player in the league...

Im sure they would have to have some kind of "Wink Wink" agreement before all of this took place. But you're probably right.

They now have the best big man in the game and a lot of good parts.

If they walk away empty handed in the offseason (there's no way that will happen), what has this team lost? Tyrus Thomas? John Salmons? Those aren't building blocks. They are going to get somebody, even if it isn't a max deal guy. Either way, this team will be improved next season.

Yes, that is another rational, correct point.

The latest rumor is that Ron Mercer will be available. Deja Vu all over again.

One thing I really don't want to see if they can't sign a max guy. I would rather the Bulls be bad for another year, then sign a few guys that make you say "WHO, and HOW MUCH?!?" Yes, I would include Mercer in there TM. I really don't see them missing out on everyone though.

So assuming everyone who can be set free following this season is gone, how much will the Bulls be under the cap? I don't know the exact salaries, but it seems that between Miller, James, the new guys & the old man they should be about 22 million lighter than the current load...no?

I've read it's going to be something like $20 million in cap room this summer, but I believe a max free agent will cost something like $15 or $16 million (that does seem a little high).

It's about $16.5M. The Bulls will have about $22M to play with plus the MLE.

This team is completely different than the pile of shit they were trotting out in 2000-2001.

Okay I'm the moron
1. If Lebron wins the championship with the Cavs why would he go anywhere else?
2. Will the Bulls be one of the 5 teams most under the cap?
3. Will Bosh want to come to Chicago?

It does not matter if you are the furthest under the cap. A max contract is just that, and the Bulls have created enough space to sign one of those guys. The figures have already been discussed in this thread. They have to believe they have a chance at getting Bosh at least. Who knows about the other guys?

What if Lebron doesn't win the championship? Couldn't that create a scenario that makes him say "It won't happen here?" You can't predict the future, but they are in a better place to win a championship (sorry to get all Bernsteiny) today then they were two days ago. Just not this year.

Tyrus Hints At Criticism Of Del Negro
Feb 20, 2010 3:34 PM EST

After a sparkling debut turning in 9 points, 12 rebounds and 6 blocks, Tyrus Thomas was interviewed on the court after the game by Bobcats' television.

Thomas complimented Larry Brown, saying that he had no problem with his new coach getting on him because Brown also gave him instructions on how to fix his mistakes and an opportunity to do so.

The relationship between Thomas and Bulls' coach Vinny Del Negro became increasingly tense this season, leading to the deadline-day trade that sent the former lottery pick to Charlotte.

The Bobcats beat the Cavs, 110-93.

Hey, I'm not defending TT at all, but if memory serves, Brown actually has a pretty good record with young players..

He has a pretty good record with troubled players. He did a hell of a job with guys like AI and Rasheed Wallace. He is currently doing a good job with Stephen Jackson. If anyone can get something out of Tyrus it is Larry. Playing in Charlotte doesn't hurt either. There are fewer shiny objects to distract a guy that is country dumb. I hope it works out.
