With Noah questionable with his foot why can't they following occur?

The Bulls waive:

Alexander ($2.6)
James ($6.6)
Law ($2.2)

And they claim off waivers:

Ilgauskas ($11.5)

They would retain his cap number into 2010-11 right? He could help in the short term and weaken a conference rival.

Is there a reason this could not happen?

No. Ilgauskas is old and bad.

He hasn't been good for about 5 years now.

And also, why in the world would you want to take that cap hit into 2010-2011?

edit: It appears Ilgauskas is expiring this year, but still no.

Big Z is a FA after this year. I think the Bulls would retain the cap space for the summer feeding.

This.

Seems like you're assuming he'd come here. He'd be an idiot to do that if the Cavs wanted to retain him.

I'm not sure if that would alter their cap space or not, but it's a moot point - Ilguaskas is a jump shooting big man at this point, and is a completely different type of player than Noah is. Ilgauskas more resembles Brad Miller (even though Miller is somehow capable of his fake move still and slow plodding attack to the rim).

Ilgauskas isn't long for the Wizards...The talk around the NBA's inner circle is that he'll soon resurface with the Cavaliers.

I believe the answer is waivers...

well i did just check and see a note on this espn profile page updated yesterday, that the Wiz & him are expected to reach a buyout agreement in the next few days. I'm not sure what you mean by waivers...once he's bought out he needs to wait 30 days before signing with the Cavs, my only point was if they were going to buy him out why didn't they do so several days ago so that the 30 day time period could begin. regardless, i think it's a pretty insane loophole; i think no player should be able to return to a team that just traded him like that

Bagels, I thought waivers was the right word in regards to Ilgauskas possibly returning to the Cavaliers shortly after he got dealt to the Wizards in the Antwan Jamison trade at the NBA Trade Deadline. The buyout you're referring might be more accurate, so thanks for the clarification.

Drew Gooden is likely doing the same thing to return to the mavs.

I'm surprised Gooden is still playing

In other wavier wire news, Larry Hughes has been waived by the Kings. I'm sure the contenders are lining up to court him as we speak

Maybe contenders for the D-League title.

What a waste of talent this guy was. I don't think he will ever play in the NBA again.

I just looked into picking up Hughes on my fantasy team thinking that no one would have him right now. I was wrong. BigFan has been hoarding Big Shot Larry all season.
