Being released by the Eagles today. If I had to pick I'd take a chance on him over LT and use him as a 3rd down type back. Although a gust of wind seems to hurt him so ultimately i'd probably pass.

Anyone else w/ thoughts?

Couldn't hurt. It all depends on what these guys are looking for. Why not let them compete for the starting job? What has Forte done to not have any competition? Remember what happened with Grossman.

Wow, I didn't see that coming. I guess his injuries have made him disposable. Their gonna miss him with the screens, that's where he was best.

If I were the Bears, I would give hime a shot, but I thought that the Bears are saying no to higher priced free agents.

Is there a quota that says we need "Should the Bears sign washed up Free-Agent X?" threads daily?

Ironic phrasing.

At this point in his career, the second coming of Kevin Jones.

I thought so, trying to do my part. Besides, he's a much more intriguing player to discuss than LT imo

The trading of him caused a good debate around here a few years ago. Dr. Ken has avoided CSFMB fantasy football every year since.

Brian Westbrook is one concussion away from calling it a career. Besides, I thought I heard that the Bears aren't going "hog wild" on free agents, in addition to raising ticket prices.

It was a multi-player / multi-need trade. I believe Kevin Jones and a few others were in there somewhere too.

If Westbrook's brains aren't scrambled, he would be the prefect pass catching RB in the Mike Martz system. It will be interesting to see where he & LT end up & if either has anything left.

The Bears aren't that interested in free agents, Scorehead...They've raised ticket prices, according to what team president Ted Phillips told ChicagoBears.com late last week, but guys like Westbrook & LaDainlan Tomlinson are thisclose to calling it a career...

Westbrook would probably die in a Bears uniform because somebody like Greg Olsen would miss a block.

I don't know if you can say he was wasted. He was barely a first round pick to begin with, and he certainly wasn't as bad as McNown or Enis.

2010 should be a "give up" year for the Bears. They've already given up on getting a proper coaching staff, so why bother going after free agents right now. Do what you can to set yourself up for 2011 and beyond. We'll still finish 3rd in the division, and I've accepted that at this point. If they get themselves into bad free agent contracts that affect us in 2011, well, there's no excuse for that.

Given the NFL's new emphasis on concussions, Westbrook should call it a career.
