As for a new FM sports radio station in Chicago, I hope it happens. They could pattern themselves after the Score in the early 1990's & could damn near hire all of the original WSCR hosts!
Seriously though, there would be plenty of sports radio guys lined up for gigs on a new sports station. With the tremendous growth in the sports radio format, & cities like St. Louis with 4 all sports radio stations, & Albuquerque with 3, Chicago can certainly support 3 sports radio stations.
We did have 3 sports yakkers a few years back, including for a time your hero Coppock...naturally it failed miserably.

Guys, you are correct. Before they moved their programming to 670 The SCORE a few years ago for overnights, long before Les Grobstein rejoined the CBS Radio-owned sports talker and White Sox flagship, there was a Sporting News Radio outlet in Chicago at WSCR's original frequency. It was at 820 AM during the day just like the original SCORE. That station featured Chet Coppock on weekends, along with the likes of Peter Brown, Jay Mariotti, Tim Brando and "Papa" Joe Chevalier. It was known as One-on-One Sports before becoming SNR, and it was based in Northbrook before relocating to Los Angeles about 2 years ago. You are also correct about the ratings for One-on-One/Sporting News...Non-existent.

I really can't believe this show is still on the air. I wonder how long the hosts contracts are & if they are guaranteed?

Here is a link to a website that links many of the all sports radio stations in the US.

there is not enough ad $$$ to support 3 sports stations right now. a third station will suck ad $$ from scr and espn1000 and would hurt salaries at those two stations

"Monsters & Money in the Morning" will be cancelled by CBS2 before Chicago even considers a third sports talk radio station again.
