Right now he's at 48% and his shooting percenatage has been on the rise over the last 30 games. It's rare for a guard to shoot 50%. Especially a 6'3 guard like Rose. This might shock you: Kobe Byrant has never shot 50% for a season. His best year was 46%. Wade has never done it. Although he did have three 49% seasons. Michael Jordan shot over 50% in 6 out of his first 8 seasons. His 2nd year he didn't but he only played 18 games that year cuz of the broken foot.

John Stockton was truly amazing. Especially since he was only 6'1. He shot over 50% in several seasons. Including an amazing 57% in the 1987/1988 season. He didn't shoot much cuz he only averaged like 16 points that year but that was an impressive season.

Anyway, something to follow. Look up other guards through the years. It's tough to find one that shot over 50% for a season. Especially point guards. It's kind of something I've been following. Nobody will talk about this either, but if Rose does it he'll be in rare company. It would be a great accomplishment.

Pax finished 10th in the league in FG% one year. I vaguely remember them saying it was even more impressive because he was the only one in the top 25 with no dunks.

You're right. Pax did it 3 times. But his best average was 11 points per game. He didn't shoot much and when he did they were wide open looks. He was getting kick outs from Jordan double teams. Still impressive but I guess I should say "star guards" averaging 50%. Guys that are game planned against. Pax never was. Pax never had to create his shots. To average over 20 points and be 50% is amazing as a guard.

Tony Parker shot over 50% last season, and put up 20+ a game.

Didn't know that about Parker. Isah Thomas never did it. Iverson never did it.

Nash has done it the last 5 years. Deron Williams just made it a couple of years ago while averaging 19 points. Chris Paul has done it twice while averaging 20+.

Not to take anything away from Stockton and Parker, but they played with the 1st and 2nd best power forwards of all time. A little easier to do it with that in your pocket. Rose doesn't have a low post scorer to help him. Still, that 57% season by Stockton was amazing.

Malone and Duncan demand double teams which helped those guys get better looks. Rose is the only one on the Bulls that commands a double team. Hell, even Boozer needs to be doubled some which helped Deron Williams do it.

Jerry West only did it once (51%), but it was in a season he must have been hurt cuz he only played 51 games.

Any discussion of the best power forwards must start with this guy...

20 point/50% point guards: So far Chris Paul and Tony Parker are the only two I can find that have ever done it in the history of the NBA. I don't count Magic Johnson since he was 6'9. Right now Rose is at 20 points/48%.

Tony Parker is a point guard. Kevin Johnson did it twice in Phoenix.

Like Paul, KJ averaged 10+ assists when he did it too. If Rose can do that, then we're on to something

I would like to take a CSFMB moment for us all to laugh at Bob Cousy. That cracker SOB never shot over 40% in any season he played. Yet all my life I've heard his name as one of the greatest. Screw him.

Wow. KJ's and Chris Paul's point guard seasons really are the best ever. Paul averaged 11 assists with the other two criteria met. Once again, not counting Magic.

KJ's season might be the best. He did it when hand checking was allowed. Rose, Parker and Paul have an advantage with today's rules.
