I just don't know if Peppers is worth the cost. If they get this done, I hope he is a beast and makes Lovie's unchanged D awesome. Tonight we're gonna party like it's 2007.

Will they be draftable whenever the Bears get to pick?

Boy, imagine how many of their top free agent targets they'd be able to sign if they weren't so hopelesly in disarray!

The only reason the Bears are in desperation mode right now to sign free agents is because they don't know how to scout & draft players. It doesn't take any skill to write a check.

Yes. Blocking TEs aren't a huge priority. That's why I've said safety and interior lineman aren't as essential in free agency. You can find them later. If they had signed Rolle I wouldn't have been heartbroken but I don't think it was optimal.

I'm thinking Phillip Daniels.

Rolle turned downed 6.7/year from the Cardinals. He wants at least 8/year.

I'd rather have OJ Atogwe straight up.

If the Bears could draft just a few good players they wouldn't be in desperation mode to sign free agents now.

Oh no, I'm agreeing with JK again. However, the image of Jerry Angelo being busted down by the prosecution is a wonderful scene in my head. You need me drafting from Abeliene Christian, You want me drafting from Abeliene Christian.

That is patently ridiculous. Philip Daniels has never had double digit sacks in his career. Before he was signed his highest year was 9, and his next highest was 6.5. He's made precisely zero pro bowls. Julius Peppers has had double digit sacks every year but two, five pro bowls and two all-pro seasons.

Pure FS - ballhawk, drafted for the Cover 2 system by Martz. Good tackler, but best skill is playing the ball in the air.

Was a border line pro bowler in 2008, got the franchise tag and then got hurt (dislocated shoulder) in 2009.

If nothing else, the Bears have been the number one topic of this entire NFL Live show.

Yes, it is. Julius Peppers is not Philip Daniels. They have one similarity. Both of them signed as FAs with the Bears. Julius Peppers is an all-together different quality of player.

Is this guy a free agent? I don't see him on the list I been looking over.

Don't forget about the Bears farm system, Vanderbilt.

Their track record on O Line is mediocre.

2008: Chris Williams (questionable), Chester Adams (bad), Kirk Barton (bad)
2007: Josh Beekman (questionable), Aaron Brant (bad)
2006: Tyler Reed (bad)

The only position they seem to do ok on is corner back and that's arguable.

Rams tendered him at a level where they can only match, not receive a pick in return. Bears could Poison Pill him, ala Hutchinson in Minnesota.

And the way Zook used his tight end is the reason why C.J. Fiedorowicz will be in black and gold.

What's sad is that the 3-9 Illini might conceivably have two first round picks. It's an outside shot but possible. That makes me depressed.

I just mean NFL-wide. The OL drafting of the Bears has been really not good, unfortunately.

If nothing else, it sure is entertaining to see the Bears brass scrambling to improve & keep their jobs. I'm surprised the McCaskys are letting Teddy, Jerry & Lovie go on a spending spree, given their history of bad free agent signings, with the exception of Thomas Jones & John Tate.

I still think he's good. Ron Zook / Juice Williams accuracy / utilization theories aside.

The Bears could use a guy like that. And he'll probably go later.

Old John Kirk theory: The Bears won't sign anyone! It's a debacle!

New John Kirk theory: The Bears are frantically signing players! It's a debacle!

Same with Tait. That probably wouldn't work this season based on the CBA.
