I never said the Bears wouldn't sign anyone.

I think that is a good idea for all of us. Jason Goff is a future Super Star! Matt Abbatacola could work well with him. They could form an interesting team with Mac. OPV wasn't too bad. OK listen. Julius Peppers could be a gigantic problem on the Bear Franchise for years. I hope he brings it if the rumors are true. Chester Taylor is slightly younger then me. Not good if you are a professional NFL RB. I creep up the stairs. Adam Schefter is the new face of the Booyah NFL insider. He is doing the side-by-side with Chris Mortensen. Next year, it will just be Scheffler. ou know what sucks about that. He is a dueche bank.

I'm angry, I'm tired, and slightly intoxicated. I could not hope more that these moves will make the Bears Super Bowl Contenders.

Money being equal, the Bears mess matters. I think a few free agents will play the Bears like a drum & sign elsewhere.

In all honestly, at this point I have no interest in seeing Teddy, Jerry & Lovie be successful.
I'm hoping for a 4-12 season followed by a good house cleaning. But that's just me.

Why does it matter who is successful, as long as they are successful?

Yeah, I could give a flying shit if I'm wrong about my sport theories if it means Championships.

This Bears regime will never sniff a fucking championship. A decent year next year just may prolong the longevity of Teddy, Jerry & Lovie, which is a good thing if you really like these goofs.
I want Bill Cowher. Period.

so if bill cowher came in and the team was 6-10, as long as you got him that'd be fine?

They were in a SUPER BOWL. I mean, yes it's gone clown college bad since then. But you can't make that short sighted points in your arguments. Plenty to bash Lovie/Jerry/Ted on/

Bill Callahan coached a team in the Super Bowl. There are a lot of bad coaches who had teams in the Super Bowl, in spite of their coaching.

Question: Would you rather have Lovie Smith or Bill Cowher as head coach for the Chicago Bears in 2010?

Awesome.Answer a question with a question!
And not that that question mark at the end of you sentence dictates that you're asking a question, you have to put it in front of your sentence too,man you're fucking good.

Answer: If Cowher did go 6-10, I would still have more confidence in his leadership & coaching ability to turn the Bears organization around.

if i were a bears fan, i would rather have a coach who has been coaching in the NFL the past few years, not someone who's become a talking head at CBS. that doesn't necessarily mean i want lovie smith because i think he's a stubborn arrogant ass, but he's not the worst option right now.

These signings may make the Bears better, but it may also keep Lovie and Jerry around longer, which isn't good. If I was a Bear fan, I would hope for a .500 or worse season, so everyone gets the ax.

Here's the deals, per Brad Biggs:

Peppers 6 years $13 million/yr. first 3 years are guaranteed

Taylor 4 yrs $12.5 million total ($7 million guaranteed in year one)

That's the next question. How much money do they have left for a safety? Is there anything else that they are looking to address in free agency, like an OL?

If I had to guess, I would say that $30-35 million of Peppers deal is guaranteed, and that it is probably spread over 2-3 years (the guaranteed portion) in the form of roster, signing, and other bonuses. That’s 6 years, $72 million, with about $30 million guaranteed (last part is a guess).

Compare that to Haynesworth’s deal last year, which was 7 years, $115 million (maxed out), with $41 million guaranteed ($32 million in the first 13 months).

In terms of average annual pay, that would mark a 25% reduction from what Fat Albert got last year. I’m guessing the guaranteed portion would mirror that, so perhaps this could come in under $30 million guaranteed. Doesn’t look like the Bears got crazy here, but we’ll have to see the structure and guaranteed portion.

Somebody please explain this to me? What sense does it make to hope for a loosing season? I thought the idea is to play well every year?

The Peppers contract is a little steep, but you get what you pay for. The Taylor signing is structured perfectly and the money looks about right.

Lovie Smith is gonna be the new Wayne Fontes, escaping the guillotine every year by winning 3 of his last 4 to finish .500 +/- 1. He's gonna be back in 2011 too now.

There is no logic behind wanting to be proven correct, even if it means the team sucks.

From what I can tell, in any given state of the world, there are four possibilities:

Proven right, Bears are good
Proven wrong, Bears are good
Proven right, Bears are bad
Proven wrong, Bears are bad.

Number two is always better than number three.
