Will be interesting to see what kind of acts they can pull in for this.....
I'll try to update in the spring and early summer with info on bands.

Summerfest officials announced on Friday the creation of a new alternative and modern-rock festival that will be held Friday, June 4 and Saturday, June 5 at Henry Maier Festival Park.

The yet unnamed festival is intended to kick off the summer festival season and appears to be a replacement of sorts for the now defunct RiverSplash festival, which had a 20-year run.

Summerfest producers will plan, promote and produce the festival, which is expected to feature a lineup of national and regional acts, action sports competitions, shopping and interactive exhibits.

WLUM-FM (102.1) will be the presenting radio sponsor for the festival.

Organizers say they will stage a contest to name the festival. The content begins immediately at www.yourmusicfest.com/">YourMusicFest.com.

Tickets for the festival will be available beginning March 10 at 10 a.m. at www.yourmusicfest.com with no incremental fees and on Ticketmaster via phone at (800) 745-3000, online at www.ticketmaster.com, and at Ticketmaster outlets.

Advanced single day passes are $25, advanced two-day passes are $40, and day-of admission is $35 per day.

Interesting. Looking forward to hearing more about this.

Bump....

They ended up calling this Verge Music Festival. Check out the website
for a listing of bands playing the 2 day gig. I am not familiar with any of
the bands on there other than Weezer. Not sure if the lineups are decent
or not.

Hmmm, not great IMO.

"She & Him" is Zooey Deschanel's band.

Sweet! Eagles of Death Metal....which led to Them Crooked Vultures. I wonder if Grohl will be behind the kit?

AFI was good for a while. Sing the Sorrow is a pretty cool album.
Three Days Grace had some decent songs but they are relatively formulaic riff rock (heavier version of creed).

It's basically $25 to see Weezer if you pre-order.

Is that some sort of knock on EODM? They sound nothing like Them Crooked Vultures. I don't really get how you are connecting the dots. The only overlapping person is Josh Homme, who plays drums for them.

Why would it be a knock? Dave Grohl contributed on their first album. It was the 2nd time Josh and Dave worked together...by their own words it helped lead to TCV.

Wasn't aware that Grohl had ever worked on that project with Josh.

Another important note, if Eagles of Death Metal are playing this show, Josh probably won't be there. He usually only plays west coast shows, and maybe like the first tour of a new record. I've only seen them once with Josh on drums (out of three times). So don't expect to see him there if you go.

Bumping this... Short notice but this festival is going on today and tomorrow in case you
were looking for something to do and you liked any of the bands.
