The NASCAR was better than the hockey talk they had this morning - Hanley had the story from years ago about N. Wilkinson and T. Granato wrong. Granato hit Wilkinson in the head with his stick, not the other way around.

It was a solid segment but John Roberts is not who I would have chosen to try to drum up some interest. Again, he's solid but he's not going to draw in anybody who didn't care to begin with.

I'd love them to do 10-15 minutes with someone like Scott Speed or Jimmy Spencer or even Kevin Harvick who'll tell you what he thinks.

But, still nice to hear them branch out a little.

You have to follow Scott Speed's twitter. He's as funny on that, if not more than, he is live. The pics he sends are usually the best part.

I should probably be doing the NASCAR report, I mean I have been in first place for more days than anyone else in the Dr Kens Moneys Pool!

My inside stuff would be like 3/4 of the writers in town who read someone elses stuff and re-report it!

That's true. With Bristol coming up next, I'm sure you know it's the shortest track on the circuit. What is one of the nicknames of that track, and who are the current drivers that are known to be short-track "experts"?
:D

In a preview of my thread-bump for Monday, if you have any, even slight, interest in watching a NASCAR race, I recommend checking out Bristol. 500 laps, doing a half-mile every 15 seconds in a bowl with 160,000 people around the track. It's good stuff.

Forget about California and Las Vegas, things start getting good now.

Is it wrong that I don't like the short tracks?

Then again, I don't particular care for pinball either.

No. It's not my favorite either. But I like Bristol just for the spectacle of the arena and the speed for a short-track.

I figure a casual fan might find it intriguing.

I have to admit, I've never been to a short track race...once the short tracks in the south suburbs/Indiana closed. Even then, short track racing bored the hell out of me.

Pick up the line, watch out for idiots.....rinse, repeat.......

I strongly suggest that the casual/non-NASCAR fan watch the Bristol race next weekend, for all of the reasons Dr. Ken listed above, plus one more HUGE one:

"Well boys, have at 'em".

There will be many, many intentional wrecks followed by one of my favorite parts: NASCAR drivers give the best "post-game" interviews. They never hesitate to call out another driver in the smarmiest, nastiest way.
