Dead of a heart attack at 59.

Influential musician - worked with other artists that many of us are fans of like Wilco, Replacements, Jon Spencer, Cat Power, etc.

Saw him live at Metro in '98. Not bad.

Who the hell doesn't know what a Chilton manual is?

I'm far from a mechanic myself, but I remember well the old man going to the local library to reference the Chilton manuals in the early '80s or so then getting his own manuals every Christmas thereafter and accessing them if and when a repair was in order.
