Thought it was a bit misleading...they will finish this season, but it's to be the last...on Fox, anyways...

Entertainment Weekly reported a while back about Kiefer Sutherland and "24" possibly resurfacing on NBC. There's also been talk that 20th Century FOX, the show's distributor, wants to create a feature film franchise based on Kiefer's "Jack Bauer" character. There's one problem. If NBC picks up "24", a feature film franchise likely isn't happening.

That being said, there's a reason why this is the last "day" for "24". Higher production costs, lower ratings...

I watched just about every episode the 1st seven seasons. This year,I just stopped after 2 episodes. Nothing to see here. Same shit over and over. Great show overall, though. Kiefer Sutherland did a great job.

The show is ridiculous, but I still love it. I can't say I'm surprised though - that it lasted 8 seasons is an accomplishment with a format that loses viewers from the first hour to the last hour of each season, and it's probably not a show that a lot of new people jump in on after the first few seasons.

They should have the show end with the world blowing up, because Jack was too busy looking for a new identity on an internet message board.

It's not ridiculous, BD, but "24" was one of those shows you had to watch from the getgo or you'd lose focus and interest. I know that Elisha Cuthbert, who played Kiefer Sutherland's TV daughter in the first two "days", I mean seasons, left the action series to do feature films before briefly coming back in the first episode of this season. I know Dennis Haysbert, who played "President Palmer", did a series called "The Unit" which didn't last long on CBS in 2006-07 and is the pitchman for Northbrook-based Allstate in commercials.

Critics who get paid for this stuff and fans were hoping that ex-"Battlestar Galactica" babe Katee Sackhoff & Freddie Prinze, Jr.'s additions to the cast working at fictional CTU would give "24" new momentum after a lenghty hiatus. Keep in mind FOX & 20th Century FOX Television, both units of News Corporation, shut production down as a direct result of the 2008 WGA Writers Strike that affected that show & many others.

If 24 comes back. My suggestion would be to keep with the 60 minute real time concept. But trying to pack all their BS into 1 day is just crazy. Stretch the story line out over a month... it will help the writing make more sense and more believable.

... and of course they should kill off Jack to improve the show.

I've been a fan of the show from the start and overall it has been fantastic, especially the first 5 seasons, but it needs to end. The ridiculous subplot about yet another CTU agent being a mole or compromised has been done to death. Much like the endless statements of how much time is left or needed. I feel like the concept of keeping the real-time was why the show succeeded and why it is now failing. Perhaps if they were to bring it back with a new cast and have a storyline that doesn't deal with terrorism. Like I said, I'm a huge fan of the show and even did my best to turn others on to it, but now I feel like I'm only watching it to see how it all ends.
