Apparently you're not that old. Noone who knows anything about the NBA and was old enough to remember watching it in the late 70's would agree with you.

We cant help ourselves. Sometimes it's not easy to ignore blatant, purposeful ignorance.

I'm probably the only board member that remembers the late 70's The Iceman,Walton,Kareem, Dr.J,Moses,
David Thompson,& Bird n Magic were Rookies in "79! I say boy...I say boy I think you been doing 2 much KP

Now I could be delusional (as I was 7 at the time) but I thought that similar to the Good Doctor Erving, David Thompson came over in the ole' ABA merger.

No arguments with Walton and that special '77 team. Kareem's a ninny though. Keep Thompson, Iceman, and Dr. J, I'm good with Wade, Kobe, LBJ.

I never said he wasnt a talented ninny, but 2000 Shaq would have absolutely dominated him in his prime. Anyways, being called a Dumb Fuck by you over a sports-related disagreement is almost a badge of honor. It's clear that the sports world has passed you by.

FF I'm not so sure you are right about that. I know you are a little younger than me but you are a smart basketball guy. If one thing Hakeem and Duncan taught us is Shaq struggles against skilled bigs and Kareem is better than both. He was better than Shaq too.

I think Hakeem is, to this day, way underrated. How much better was Kareem? I guess its Russell Kareem Wilt and Shaq. I dont know but id put The Dream amongst the top big men of all time

The Dream was a great player. I doubt we will ever see that many good bigs in the NBA again.

I wish I would have seen Kareem at his peak. I remember seeing an old Kareem later in his career.

In college he was so dominant they banned the dunk!!!!!!!!!!!! I guess FF doesn't believe anything before 1985 was any good!

Sky hook was basically unstoppable. Only other post move I can think of that was that devastating, was Hakeem's "Dream Shake"

I'm not going to argue that Shaq in his prime wasn't effective. Was it entertaining to watch? No.

I never said anything before 1985 wasnt good. The early 80's Georgetown teams and Phi Slamma Jamma are the funnest teams I've ever seen to watch. I love watching the '83 Fo, Fo, Fo Sixers team. Bird is one of my favorite athletes ever. I would take Shaq at his peak over Kareem.

Nas - Shaq in 2000-2002 didnt struggle much with Duncan. It was more when he got older and slower. But Duncan is the best PF of all time. Hakeem got to take on Shaq in his prime when Shaq was still way too young to be considered in his class. 2000 Shaq vs 1995 Hakeem would have looked alot different. That would have been an amazing matchup

Yeah thats basically the best move in the NBA post-MJ.

I agree with this. Hakeem in his prime was just an absolute beast.

You have a right to your opinion but it is hard for me to see Shaq being better than Kareem at any point in their careers. Kareem dominated when the league wasn't watered down (fewer teams and better players) and he did it for 18 of his 20 years. He played against all of the great bigs before Shaq and dominated them. IMO he would have killed Shaq at every point of his career.

I don't know about that, as someone mentioned earlier, I think that people are remembering an old broken down Kareem. Most of these guys grew up watching Hakeem, Shaq, et al.

Not to diminish Mikan, he was great for his time, but 90% of the centers in the league today would bitch slap him.

I was thinking he could get big on the White Panther and DJ Mbenga still.
