Yeah, let's exercise his option for 2012 now for $3.0 M!

And this kid wanted to start!

He is so bad that I think they may actually cut him soon so he can get back in football shape.

His baseball career might over next year (last year of his deal)

Also,Ricketts should have bought the Cubs for 142 mil less then he did. That way he could have cut SORRYANO's ass first thing. Hendry's mistakes are killing the Cubs. Stop playing contracts & play PLAYERS!!

You were dead on with your first post about this. Nothing meatball about it. He is a better wr and should pursue that avenue immediately. Not sure he would go to the bears though.

For some reason, Rothschild is a sacred cow. WTF has he done to earn such status?

The dude had a 4+ ERA in college and you fans bought into that shit. THAT'S what makes you Cub fans...easier than a co ed on spring break.

Todays outting comes after Lou and Larry said that he finally looked like a pitcher this Spring. Please release him, Soriano, and Fontenot asap. Even if we have to pay Soriano, I would rather pay him it go away and let Colvin play, than to pay him to strikeout and misplay flyballs.

Not only that, he was given a huge signing bonus and the obligatory no trade clause.

Yea...they say that about everyone. Everyone is one of the best, bla bla bla...
Ricketts should have cleaned fucking house & started fresh with a new regime. This is a lost & wasted year for the Cubs. If the Cubs are out of it at the All Star break, will Hendry fire Lou & promote Sandberg ahead of schedule?

Hendry should fire himself, he's the one who put together this mishmash roster.

Sandberg should've replaced Piniella before spring training when it became painfully evident that Lou had grown old, tired, and complacent with sitting around the dugout with his thumb up his ass. This isn't to say Sandberg would make a bad team better with fire and passion, but I don't see fit to carry around a lame duck. Lou knows he's done after this year, and we all know Sandberg is looming over him. Why not expedite the process? If you know you have your guy, make him your guy. Don't pussyfoot around with this "Lou will determine his future in the future" bullshit. He's done. Worst-kept secret.

EDIT: I will say that I don't think Sandberg will be a particularly good manager, and my worst fear is that all his promotion will do is set the stage for Ricketts to employ the "come on down to watch the coach" marketing strategy most recently and infamously used by the Phoenix Coyotes with Wayne Gretzky. In terms of fan-insulting odiousness, this is second only to the "come on down to watch the road team's stars" used by the Dark Ages Bulls (and come to think of it, the Coyotes again). The team's gonna suck serious ass this and next year, but look, it's Cubs Legend Ryne Sandberg!

Each outing makes me think this offer should be on the table

Offer him $1 M to leave at end of season and willing to make up whatever is missed of the other $1.8M he would make in baseball if he plays football and earns less.

So if he gets a $500K football deal, they only pay another $1.3

The guy might have greater earning power left in football?

Why Fontenot? You actually think Baker would be that much better? I like our lefty and righty 2nd base rotation. Don't really think thats the problem.

This is why I hate being a cubs fan sometimes. Not even 10 games into the season and we have fans saying we are done yada, yada or we have the idiots that hold on to the very end. Its a long season and anything can happen. We have a new owner remember? I hope for all the naysayers that he does do something when he gets fed up and make you guys shut your mouths. It may be a move that kills the rest of this season but at least we won't be setting up for the same damn team for the next 5 years.
