Hell yeah. I'm sure, even in the smallest market, it pays at least 100k. I'll bet that Yankees D-Bag "play by play" guy gets the most. Probably 750k. Wht does Farmer make, Ranger? I'm guessing 350k. Rooney wanted 500k and Reinsdorf told him "good luck in St Louis".

I'm workin' on it Ranger. I'll get you one.

Bob Uecker is in one of the smallest markets in Milwaukee, but I'll bet the Brewers pay him nicely cuz he's been there forever and he's a legend. He's at least 500k I'll bet. But he's worked his way up to that obviously. Guys like him get paid well even if the money is not worth their audience numbers and the advertising revenue. Breweres can make it up with their other revenue streams and still afford to pay a legend like him. 500k is manageable. Hell, you waste that and some on a bad player's contract every year.

Plus really good team announcers are an extension of a team's marketing campaign. Guys like Bob Uecker sell tickets just by being Bob Uecker. So he's worth more even if the Brewers don't have a big radio audience. Farmer and DJ, for example, don't sell one god damn ticket for being themselves. Sox fans don't love them, most dislike them. At best, a small majority just tolerate them.

I remember Tom Paciorek saying that the Nationals are cheap bastards with their TV and radio guys. They pay them the lowest in MLB. Paciorek worked there for a couple of years.

Your response is weak. Being in the public eye like you are, surely you realize that not everyone will be a fan of yours. The WSCR White Sox Baseball broadcasting triumvirate of Farmio, DJ, & Ranger is on par with some double A broadcast teams that I have heard in my many travels around the midwest...and I'm sure the budget & payroll is close as well. At least the Sox aren't overpaying for the level of broadcasting talent. I'm sure the huge audience that Sox games attract on WSCR are happy though.

Eh. Opinions are a**holes, they say. Or like some poeple on message boards. I feel pretty confident that you're in the minority on yours, but you're entitled to it.

I'm just saying that if you're gonna criticize, find something with some substance instead of the Rongey-is-a-shill classic because you can't support it.

For a guy in communications, you don't communicate very well.

Vin Scully must be the highest paid MLB announcer, no?
I would guess that the White Sox broadcast team of Farmio & DJ is the lowest paid duo in the major leagues, & rightly so. If they aren't, they should be. The Sox broadcast sounds like something you would expect to hear in Dayton or Peoria.

Vin Scully is TV. I was talking about radio MLB announcers. Of course TV guys make more. I think Hawk makes about 1 million. Plus Skully probably makes way more than most TV guys cuz he does it alone. Don't have to pay an analyst with him.

That's one of the reasons Stone wanted out of the Sox radio booth. More money on the TV side. DJ took a major pay cut to leave Hawk and join Farmer.

How much easier to understand do you want me to be? If I write with Crayola and mail it to you, would that help? If you can't understand what I'm saying, then I'm not sure how you're able to understand the directions on a shampoo bottle.

By the way, are you the same as that "John Kirk" guy that used to be here? If so, no wonder you're a complete nimrod.

Ranger is in a partnership with the White Sox. He can't do Sox radio like B&B. I don't think you guys understand that. Like I said earlier, "Fuck you radio" limits your chances in radio. Some want to have options in broadcasting. If you fail at "fuck you" radio you won't be able to do pre and post game for teams. Teams wouldn't hire you. You can't be a reporter. You can't do TV. You can't do a lot of things. Your options are reduced. You're viewed as a clown.

Ranger is the classic "non threatening white broadcaster". Broadcasting execs like that. He's gonna be a good soldier. You don't have to worry about him bitching about his bosses, fighting with co workers, or doing sex and race jokes. He'll have staying power and a chance at that "play by play" job. Bernstein deciples only have a shot at the thing Bernstein does and those roles are few and far between in broadcasting. Bernstein types are viewed as threatening to execs and if they don't have the talent of Bernstein, they won't last long.

Ranger can do "fuck you" message boarding, however. That's fun to see.

Hey Ranger, whatever happened to that "Chris Rongey, that funky Ranger" song set to the Brass Monkey tune?

That always cracked me up, especially the "You got that right" part.
