read this little gem in todays new york post. im glad cubs fans are paying more to go to wrigley to see a shitty over paid team than yankees fans are paying to see their highest paid world series winning team play in a brand new stadium

It's cheaper to sit in much of the lower deck at Yankee Stadium this year, with the Cubs overtaking New York and Boston for the highest-priced regular tickets in the major leagues.

Tickets at Wrigley Field for non-premium sections average $52.56 this season and Fenway Park is second at $52.32 following a 4.1 percent hike.

If people stop going, prices will drop. It business stupid to keep prices the same when people will pay more.

Yea frustrating if you consider the championship futility, but they are ultimately a business.

Yep, supply and demand. The supply stays the same and the demand seems to constantly go up.
They can seemingly do whatever the fuck they want until people just get fed up enough.

The Cub have more revenue streams than just about anybody but have suffered from mismanagement of said resources for years. The current roster is saddled with huge money, long term no trade clause deals. They keep mismanaging young pitchers (Simardzija, Guzman) or trading them away for garbage (Nolasco for Pierre). They need Castro, Colvin, Cashner, Jackson and Vitters to develop into at least replacement-level players, or this roster is going to look like the Astros in a few years. Even then I would guess that the park will continue to sell out.

i blame wrigley field. maybe if they knocked it down and put up a regular generic stadium the team would be forced to win

How is this calculated? Just average ticket? Hard to believe after all the talk about the new Yankee Stadium and their Jillion dollar seats.
