Hendry has to feel like the idiot he is after seeing what this kid can do with confidence.

Bringing in a bust as Kevin Gregg and giving him the job was a HUGE mistake.

It didn't take a genius to know the issue with Marmol was mental, so what did you do? you fucked with him more???? On the other hand Jeff WR gets more chances than Rex Grossman to show he can be a MLB pitcher?

It think this is Jeff's last season under his initial contract. He's either going to prove he can pitch in the bigs (I don't think he can-well) or that perhaps he needs to see if the NFL is still a possibility?? I believe that Samardjia should be at AAA, but they want to see if he really has what it takes at the major league level, before they think about whether or not to sign him to another contract. If he were at AAA and doing well, would that really answer any of the questions they need to answer? In my opinion, he's a poor man's Kyle Farnsworth. He has similar stuff and similar issues. He's just really not as good though, not that Farnsworth was all that.

Jeffy hasn't pitched since Monday. Lou doesn't have to put him in and he hasn't since then at least. Dude still has options left, they could send his ass to TN as he isn't even worthy of Iowa at this time.

I think Samardzija's deal expires after next season and I couldn't agree with BF more.

Smarj doesn't get into another game unless the Cubs aare down big late. He's the first back to Iowa. Aren't they carrying 13 pitchers? Probably drop him when Castro comes to the 25.

They're only carrying 12, but it sounds like Jeff Gray might be called up soon.

Maybe they should consider pitching Marmol 2 innings rather than just the 9th. As a set-up man, he often would pitch the 7th and 8th innings. Why not the 8th and 9th, at least now and then?

After this week, none are safe. Anyone in the pen is subject to demotion/dismissal. Would Iowa even take a Grabow?

How about a Soriano (can't hit, can't field--maybe he's a pitcher)?

He was up today. Grabow is too old. He either gets it done or is gone, you can't send him down. When Teddy comes back I am sure Hendry will send down either Berg or Russell even though both have been better than the shit he wrote checks for.

Hendry certainly is accustomed to writing checks for shit.

Jeff Samardzija is still owed 2.8M next year (another great Hendry back loaded deal)

And since someone asked, Grabow was signed to a 7.5m/2 year deal this off season. You're stuck with him much like Mike Remlinger many years back as the left hander they decided to drop coin on for that year.

Then he should be at AAA, because there is no urgency to find ou whether or not he's truely a ML pitcher. He and the team would be better off if he were in the minors. With the way he's performed this spring, I would be shocked if Lou put him into a game that wasn't already decided first. That amounts to wasting a roster spot. Thats just stupid. This team needs arms that can be depended upon in that bullpen.

He makes things too interesting on a regular basis, but he's got to have nastiness stuff in the league. Who else has some of the movement on his pitches along with a 96 MPH Fastball?

But who else do they have in AAA to call up and take his place? You've seen Jeff Stevens - he's bad. Mitch Atkins? There's a reason he didn't make the roster already. Jeff Gray? He's almost 30 and has only gotten a cup of coffee. They have very limited options right now.

And just like Remlinger they are both lefties who can't get lefties out

Mike Remlinger...Bob Howry....Scott Eyre....LaTroy Hawkins...Dave Smith.....Willie Banks.....the list of relief pitchers the Cubs signed that turned into crap after they signed is long and distinguished.
