This was kind of fun to predict last summer, or maybe it was the one before that.

How do you think these (supposed high profile) movies will do in the domestic box office:

Iron Man 2 with Robert Downey Jr/Rourke/Rockwell/Scarlett (May 7)
Robin Hood with Russell Crowe/Cate Blanchett (May 14)
Shrek Forever After with Myers/Diaz/Murphy/Banderas (May 14)
Sex and the City 2 with ughhh (May 27)
Prince of Persia with Jake Gyllenhaal (May 28)

A-Team with Neeson/Cooper/Rampage/Jessica Biel (June 11)
Karate Kid with Will Smith's kid/Jackie Chan (June 11)
Toy Story 3 with Hanks/Allen (June 18)
Grown Ups with Sandler/Spade/Rock/Schneider/James (June 25)
Knight and Day with Tom Cruise/Cameron Diaz (June 25)
Twilight: Eclipse with Pattinson/Stewart (June 30)

Last Airbender by M Night Shymalan (July 2)
Inception with DiCaprio/Page/Gordon-Levitt (July 16)
Sorcerer's Apprentice with Baruchel/Cage (July 16)
Dinner for Schmucks with Carrell/Rudd (July 23)
Salt with Angelina Jolie (July 23)

The Other Guys with Will Ferrell/Mark Wahlberg (August 6)
The Expendables with Stallone/Statham/Rourke/JetLi/Lundgren and many other manly men and Charisma Carpenter ...meow (August 13)

Wow, aside from The A Team I have absolutely no interest in anything on that list. Comedies have been amazingly weak lately and will continue to be apparently.

this just feels like an odd summer to me. nothing really stands out. lot of remakes and recycled material.

"prince of persia"--even the trailer seems slow paced. i don't know about that one. i think it'll have a decent opening weekend.

i think "iron man 2" has a lot of potential but based on the success of the first one, i'm surprised that it is a may release. seems like they would've wanted to "dark knight" that one, and have it released mid july. i think it'll make good money though.

"the last airbender" i haven't seen anything for yet--but i also haven't been to the movies since "alice in wonderland". i'll probably try to check out a movie or two this week or next, though. but m. night doesn't have the box office pull he once did.

"robin hood" doesn't look good at all. i'm sort of drawn to it because i love that story and the lore of it all--but it looks dull. and crowe doesn't strike me as a robin hood. i don't know, i'll give it a chance.

i didn't think anyone would be into "shrek" anymore...this may be somewhat floppy.

didn't even know about "karate kid" either. is this another reboot?

i think "toy story 3" will be the winner of the summer. people i know who have kids cannot wait for this movie.

'Iron Man 2' will do huge money (I don't know what 'huge' translates to, but it will be).

Based on my kids, and the fact that most well-funded kid movies seem to do well, Shrek and Toy Story will do big numbers too.

Also, the Twilight movie will be big. There is an endless supply of 10 thru 40 year old women that just love these stories.

Didn't make this list, but I will be interested to see how the remake of
Nightmare on Elm Street does. When my wife heard that was coming
out she was excited to see it. There is a whole generation of kids who
don't know much about Freddy Krueger. I think it could be a sleeper if
it is actually decent. Not blockbuster numbers but pretty good for a movie
like that.... maybe $60 million.

here's something that i'm already going to build into my review of it when i see it (and i will see it):

one of the problems i have with the casting of freddy is that this guy's voice already sounds like another character he's done.

i know that's weird...but i almost feel like calling this "A Nightmare on Rorschach's Street". Nobody had known who Robert Englund was when he played Freddy Kreuger. So the voice, the style, the look...was all new. I've heard this freddy is scarier looking when you see his face (which will probably be rare). And the visuals look interesting. It has the potential to be genuinely creepy. I have a feeling they will overdo the CGI so that it looks more surreal and out of place than it looks "eerie and dreamlike". But the thing I just don't like is the association I already have with Freddy sounding *exactly* like Rorschach. I don't know, it just bugs me...

I think a majority of moviegoers won't pick up on the voice, but I could see how
you would be concerned with that Zack. If the voice does happen to be the same
it will be a good one for Freddy. I think the movie cost $27 million to make so if it
can pull in $55 million or more the studio would be happy with that. I am not into
that genre but I think I will go and see it.

yeah i have no doubt it'll make its money. it's already branded. i think "friday the 13th" did pretty well; in fact i think they're already working on a sequel for it.

it's more of a personal thing on the voice. i love the fact that this guy's getting work at least. he's really good.

OK, here's how they'll roll in - never underestimate the "G/PG/PG13" rated movies that kids see repeatedly:

Toy Story 3
Iron Man 2

Shrek Forever After
Twilight: Eclipse
Karate Kid
Grown-Ups
Salt
Robin Hood
A-Team
Last Airbender
Knight and Day
The Other Guys
Inception
Sex and the City 2
Prince of Persia
Sorcerer's Apprentice
Dinner for Schmucks
The Expendables

I plan on seeing for sure
I plan on seeing if the reviews are above average

We're in for 2-4 tix for Toy Story. I'm looking forward to it. They are pretty good.

Grown ups looks terrible. Sandler should be banned from ever getting green lighted on another movie. The script for MacGruber is probably better than that.

Sandler's movies do well with the 10-14 year old demographic....

Spaulding.. what's up - isn't one of your kids (or your spouse) worthy of seeing Toy Story 3?

Inception will probably be the best movie of the summer. Christopher Nolan and his team have not had a bad movie yet (The Dark Knight might actually be his worst). I'm all about adult mind-benders, and this one looks nuts. Hard to go wrong with this one (DiCaprio, Gordon-Leavitt, Ellen Page, Michael Caine, Ken Watanabe, Marion Cotillard, Cillian Murphy, and Tom Berenger). Both trailers look sweet.

The movie has been under such tight wraps that hardly anything is known about it. Not sure if that will help or hurt it. But basically from what I've read it is about getting into people's minds to steal their thoughts/dreams....WTF. I'm game.

I'm hoping this breaks the $200 mil mark.

I'm done with this dude's movies. The last 3 have been awful. Seems like he caught a case of Kevin Smith-itis.

I completely agree. Other than Sixth Sense and Unbreakable, I can't think of another decent movie he made.

I thought Signs was great, but it just had a ridicoulously awful last five minutes.
