Seriously, you have a $90some million pitcher in the BULLPEN. And you have a $138 million outfielder who only plays 5 innings because he can't catch (or pick up) a baseball and is afraid of the wall.

I have no idea why Jim Hendry still has a job. He singlehandedly took a 97 win team and made it bad.

I don't know that a (likely) dumbass move is necessarily a white-flag; dumbass is just dumbass. White flag has been done in this town, and that would be something more like Z in a Giants uniform - which is actually an icky thought (Lincecum, Cain, Zambrano) ... let's not think of that anymore.

The whole thing just seems really bizarre ... the only way it could conceivably be branded (sorry) successful is if Z's coming in 3x a week giving you 2+ innings of shut-down pitching, assuming the Cubs' offense isn't this morbidly inept - and when the hell is that all going to happen?

Usually a move like this is done of there is a glaring need for a closer... but a setup guy?? What happen when Carlos Silva blows up?

The thing with Cashner is that he is actually starting in Tennessee. They must have other ideas for him other than being a reliever right now. If they wanted him to relieve there is no reason to have him in the rotation on a 5 day throwing program. This is probably just a wake up call to Z to stop throwing 10 fucking pitches to every batter in an attempt to get a K. Money aside this makes sense. He can't get through 5 without 100 pitches and he can have a bases loaded situation and K the side if need be in relief which aside from Marmol can not be said about anyone else in the pen.
