Alert, game 2 is on the fUzz.

Game 1:
Monday, 7:05pm CSN
Silva (2-0 .095 ERA) vs. John Lannan (1-1 5.82 ERA) (L)

Game 2:
Tuesday, 7:05pm WCIU
Gorzelanny (0-2 2.40 ERA) vs. Livan Hernandez (2-1 0.75 ERA)

Game 3:
Wednesday, 1:20pm CSN
Dempster (2-0 2.60 ERA) vs. Luis Atilano (1-0 1.50 ERA)

The Cubs seem to be swinging the bat in the last 5 games. Pretty much everyone except Ramirez is heating up nicely, and word is that he's getting it back on track. We'll see. They're going to have to hit Livan Hernandez, who has been spectacular so far. I believe that every game Dempster pitches the Cubs have a better than average chance of winning. I'm not so sure I can say that about Gorzelanny, but Silva has been very good so far. of course, I'm waiting for that to come to and end soon. Should be pretty cool and cloudy Monday, but the rest of the series looks like fair weather.
I'm gonna go ahead and say that Game 2 looks like a perfect loss day for the Cubs. I'm taking them to win the bookends.

Crushing 3 bad pitchers does not give me the faith I need, but it is better than totally sucking.

Would like to see some timely hits and runs v Livan, that would be impressive

No Ronnie, he's always been a pitcher, even though he handles the bat quite well. Believe thats Henry Rodgiuez youre thinking about. Great Left handed slugger, hit a lot of home runs here at Wrigley, so much so that they had to make a rule about fans throwing "Oh Henry" bars on the field.
Theriot takes ball 2 to even the count. You remember that Ron? The Oh Henry fiasco? Well, it was something. The Oh Henry 5, is what they were dubbed by the media. The 2-2 to Theriot...

  Well done.

Cubs just played themselves out of what could have been a real nice inning.
Soto does look a little slower.... wiiiider.

Well.
The Cubs seem to be coming together a little bit. Kind of liked seeing Z come in there. Silva wasn't quite as sharp as his previous starts but not bad overall.
Hope they can keep it going against Livan.

I hope they show the same patience with Livan Hernandez. He rarely throws strikes if he can avoid it. he throws most pitches just out of the strike zone (they end up there anyway) and relies on the hitters to get themselves out, by swinging at bad pitches. Smart stategy if you can make it work. Watch and see how many pitches he throws that are well out of the strike zone. Everything he throws has good movement. he may not throw as hard as he once did, but everything has good movement. The Cub hitters have seen him enough to know him, but whether they will have the discipline to take enough pitches or not, remains to be seen. Gorzellany had best be on his game.

Geo is getting it done. I like he's not tryin to smoke every hit. He's just taking what he's getting. Nice OBP.

Another quality start. Just got to hope they can get into the Nats bullpen and get some runs in the last couple innings.

Grabow needs to stop pitching and learn to make pipes.

Grabow sucks. Lee fails in the clutch again, and Byrd swings at ball 4 that would of loaded the bases.

Capps sucks, but the Cubs go down like bitches against him. Another wasted start by a starting pitcher.

Laugh if you want, but Capps would look pretty good as the 8th inning guy right about now...

I think this was a key play in the game. Would have been bases loaded, w/ 1 out. Damn.

I forgive him. Byrd has been the least of the Cub problems.

for sure. he has been more than solid. Not throwing him under the bus...it just would have been nice if he'd taken the pitch that was clearly outside. Easy for me to say.

Relax fellas. They'll win today. Take two of three in this series and 5 of the last 6.

Dempster should give the Cubs a chance today to take the deciding game in this series. However, I don't remember the Cub hitters ever facing this guy going today, with the 1.50 ERA. But it may come down to the bullpens deciding the game. I'm gonna predict that Zambrano will play a key role in todays game-in a positive way.
