from NU we have McMannis, Kafka and Wootton. I think McMannis will wind up on a roster and people like Wootton for his size (although he had a lackluster 2009). Kafka is the wildcard. He had a good East/West Shrine game performance, but questions on whether he can adapt to a pro-style are still a question. Perhaps a good combine will seal the deal for him.

Go Kafka... good to see the St. Rita kid do well.

I'm saying late second or early third for Kafka.

I'm not so high on Kafka. He forces the ball into coverage when under pressure. His arm strength is adequate. He's not fast, but sneaky quick. I'd say he's a later round pick at best. He's not a Day 1 pick for sure.

I know you were all waiting, but Iowa has 7 headed to the combine with Edds, Angerer, Speivey, Bulaga, Calloway, Moeaki and Richardson all invited.

I was a little surprised that Juice Williams was not invited. I could see a team wanting to take a flyer on him as a slash type.

Totally agree... no one is going to pick a 'project' in round 3. Round 6 at the earliest. Anyone think higher than that?

I was thinking this too just on physical ability. He'd be a combine freak.

He can chuck it 80 yards on the fly. He just can't throw it from 1-79 yards.

Wishing Kafka all the best. QB factory, St. Rita is not. Methinks he'll be the first QB ever drafted from that school. Any other Catholic League QB's come to mind? Donovan McNabb from MC is the only one I could think of.

Richardson actually could have applied for a 6th year. He was a 5th year senior this past year who recovered from a ton of injuries to make it back this year.

As for Bulaga, it's the best move. He was a junior early entrant but with the uniknown for next year in terms of rookie salary cap and his likely status as a first rounder, he should get the dough now while he can.

Kafka would not excel in the WILDCAT formation? I thought he looked pretty good in college. The scouts say his arm is weak? I thought he had a strong arm.

The general perception I've seen is he has average to good arm strength but not very accurate under pressure.

Good arm (not great), but not really tested given NU's offensive dink and dunk spread. Good scrambler. Tough. Smart. Not comfortable in pro style... he was always in shotgun. Can sail his passes on occasion, but generally very accurate... and he is a very nice guy ;)

Which in the end equates to a late round/UFA camp arm

Round 4 was not bad for Kafka.

Happy to be proved wrong here! What Kakfa did in one year of starting is pretty remarkable. Imagine what he might have done with all those years that Claussen had.

I wonder if he'll start hanging out socially with Vick.

So Iowa had 6 drafted -
Bulaga: Round 1
Angerer: Round 2
Moeaki, Speivey: Round 3
Edds: Round 4
Calloway: Round 6

Richardson and Stross signed FA deals. (Richardson was a tryout deal)

Juice got a tryout deal with the Bears.
