Bulls coach Vinny Del Negro met with chairman Jerry Reinsdorf on Sunday, but he won't be keeping his job.

Del Negro will be fired on Tuesday, with one season and $2 million remaining on his guaranteed three-year contract, according to the Chicago Tribune.

The whole meeting was probably Reinsdorf telling him to keep his mouth shut about the bizarre organization or he would not be paid.
Plain and simple.

If they fire him they have to pay him that money whether he talks or not no?

He could take a buy-out, but that would be incredibly stupid for Vinny to do. He's got all the leverage and can make a media shit-storm if Reinsdorf doesn't want to pay out all that is owed on Vinny's deal.

is this media "shit-storm" based on the altercation that occurred?

Well this was obvious for awhile. Not really big news IMO. Let's see who they go with to replace him.

I think that incident involving Vinny & V.P. of Operations John Paxson back on March 30th, and all the legal issues stemming from it delayed the obvious news since LeBron James and the Cavaliers put the Bulls to bed a week ago in that 5-game NBA Playoff mismatch.

However, 670 The SCORE's Jason Goff mentioned this topic following Uncle Jerry's other team, the White Sox got smoked by the World Champs in the Bronx yesterday. Goff seems underwhelmed with retreads supposedly available. The Donald Trump-looking Mike Fratello & currently with Turner/TNT Sports, ex-Bucks, Lakers & Clippers' head coach Mike Dunleavy were 2 of the names mentioned, along with current ESPN/ABC Sports' guys such as Byron Scott, Avery Johnson & Jeff Van Gundy. Jeff' doesn't appear that interested in leaving Mark Jackson & Mike Breen behind as ESPN/ABC's #1 NBA team, especially after what happened to Jeff the last time he coached in Houston. Avery's still earning $$$$ from his former boss, Mavericks' owner Mark Cuban, NOT to coach...I'm not so sure Uncle Jerry wants to spend big money again to hire a new head coach once he sends VDN on his way out of Chicago.

Mike Dunlevey?!? Please God no.

I would rather have Vinny back over Dunlevey.

Douchebag, that's what Goff said last night. I'd be very interested if the Bulls somehow got Glenn "Doc" Rivers away from the Celtics, and he brought assistant Tom Thibodeaux from his staff in a package deal...

I wouldn't want Doc Rivers near my Bulls. That would be a disaster. He is one of the top 5 worst coaches in the NBA.

But this isn't news from Goff. He's just repeating what an announcer said on national TV, right?

It happens in every sport, but I can't fathom why they keep recycling some of these retreads. Dunleavy, Fratello, et.al. might have been good in the 90s. Lawrence Frank? What has he done that has ever suggested he's a good coach?

Depends on what is in his contract......I am sure Del Negro will go quietly so he can get another gig someday in the League....there is no point in him trashing this circus.

This is one thing that I absolutely hate about sports radio talk. It sounds to me that we're attributing something to Goff when in fact he's just spitting out what he heard on national tv. Why even bring Goff in the equation. He may have "said" so, but what difference does it make. Unless, Goff spoke to his agent, friends, or associates and has something new to bring to the discussion, he shouldn't be quoted. True, he said it, but who cares? He's blindly repeating something that anyone of us did (or could have) heard.

I'd only want Dunleavy if he can bring his son with him.

Oh wait...forget that.

How many franchises does Mike Dunlevey have to ruin until an owner thinks he is bad?

But that's pretty much what sports radio is- a few knuckleheads reading from the papers. Or making shit up that they heard from their "guy".

Agreed - Goff, like other hosts at the station, use the Internet, just like we do, for sports news/rumors.

CBS 2 is reporting VDN is fired. I have not heard if they are going to ask spmack and I for our opinion.

They were great to him. They gave him a head coaching job (when he had never coached in his life) when no other team in the NBA would possibly be that stupid. Then they turned around and gave him 40% of the money he made as a player to coach 2 years. Vinny should get on his knees every night and that his God for the Bulls. In fact he should get on his knees every time he sees Uncle Jerry and Paxson.

WWN and I need classes on the use of your and you're. By the way, the Bulls didn't mistreat Vinny.
