I love this line...."Kids came up to Mike at our house on Halloween and asked, 'Why are you moving?' " Be-Be North said.

Kids at Halloween only care about one thing....that you have Snicker bars rather than Tootsie Rolls.....hey buddy....

Saw that this morning. What a joke. Sure. You're selling because you WANT to, not because you HAVE to...

Have you ever priced land in that area?

My favorite part of the article:

Quote:
North noted that as part of the sale, he'll include $60,000 worth of architectural drawings for the two houses that he and his relatives had planned to build. The Norths had commissioned plans for a 9,000-square-foot mansion, while his wife's sister had drawn up plans for a 7,000-square-foot house.

Yes, what a deal, Mike! I could just imagine what type of ugly crap Northy came up with!

I'm surprised he hasn't offered to throw in a copy of "Caucasian Man" and the "opportunity" to invest in the successor to Webio/DontFademe.com, etc...

I'm sure the other residents of Murphy Lake are breathing a sigh of relief now that Mike won't be living in the neighborhood.

They'll be happier with someone living in the house, and less threats of subdividing.

Read it this morning - and first thought was that someone must need money really bad. You throw in 60,000 of architectural drawings - can't wait to see what else he throws in to sweeten the deal (How about a guest commentarv spot on Monsters and Money when Terry Savage is out).

A Mike North 9,000 square foot mansion would be more gaudy than Graceland.

Let me get this straight. He's selling 2 lots, only one of which has a house on it - a small ranch house at that - for 1.1 million a piece? I know it's a lot of land but he ain't gettin that much. He got suckered in 2005 if he paid 2.3 million for this even when the economy wasn't shit.

If he would have taken that 800k from the Score he could have sat on these lots until the economy gets better. Now, if he does need money, he has to sell in a buyers market. He'd be lucky to get half of what he's asking in these times. That's a huge loss for him.

Why would you pay that much for land when you can acutally buy a nice house for a million dollars?

If you had the money, why wouldn't you just buy this mansion in park ridge? It's going for 1.2 and you don't have to build anything. If you buy Pappy's land you still have to build the beautiful house.

Why does this merit a story in the paper unless you're going to tell the truth about how this guy has failed at about a dozen consecutive gigs, obviously can't afford the "dream houses" anymore, and needs the cash? What purpose is served by a puff-piece like this, complete with teary-eyed little Trick-or-Treaters and him throwing these "valuable" drawings into the deal? Guess the local media STILL can't get their lips off this fucking liar's ass. It's just shameful and pathetic.

We've all made bad choices in our lives, god knows I have in the past 4 years. But, I don't understand the mentality of someone who has everything going for them, even though that person is a talentless hack, and has tried so hard to piss everything away and destroy their reputation. It's that fucking smugness he has on his face in those pictures that make you want to reach through the screen and strangle him. I think this article shows that abomination on Ch.2 is coming to an end and that North "garage sale" has just begun. I can't imagine one more media entity in this town giving North another opportunity, but Ch.2 blew that theory to pieces before.

Also, property taxes on those properties must be insane. I think what pissed me off about the article was that someone actually spent $60,000 on "blueprints", if that is true.

By the way, when does that civil lawsuit trial vs Mike and Bebe get started? Remember? A couple that Hernandez scammed is suing the Norths. Maybe they'll get these lots for nothing.

He didn't say he spent $60,000 on them. He said they were "worth" $60,000. He's still the same huckster who promoted the Webio.

I wonder how the genius is doing with his great investments in Las Vegas condos at the top?

Got to love the comments following the article!

I know the guy made some money, but dropping $2.1? and maybe close to $5 million in real estate between his own home, his Vegas Condos and I know he bought some Indiana land. It's been quite some time now that Mike has drawn a good paycheck and the first being this WBBM job in 2 years?

Having $2 M tied up in land, thats quite a chunk?

Bigger lot at 208 Dee Road for sale at $1.3M with a small house on it
in 2008 (Better market) this same property was listed for $1,250,000 and sold for $850,000

Personally I dont think the Fake Lake makes this $1.1 lots. Yes, they are better than regular lots but you get a very small, if any, backyard due to the lake and it's not like you have a nice boat or even a sailboat?

BF,
What idiot would put up a 9000 square foot house on a 1/3 of an acre, as one of the commenters pointed out?

I really believe Pappy was the only person that would have paid 2.1 million for this property in 2005 when we had a good economy. They would have came down on that price eventually. It only takes one sucker and they got Pappy. Like I said, he'll be lucky to get half his money back at this point. It will never sell for what he's asking. The Lake is overrated. Most people don't put too much value in a glorified pond.

He's probably already lost all the money he put up. You know the clown had a huge mortgage for this "investment" to take the tax benefits. He's buried in his real estate investments.

don't need to idiot. Nort is a moron plain and simple. He needs to unload this property cause he can't afford the nut anymore. lie bigfan said, this property was never worth the price north paid to begin with. nort will probably file for bankruptcy in the near future or a bunch of his speculative property will be foreclosed.

You're right. It is a lot for Pappy to tie up in land and houses. Pappy made good money but he's not filthy rich. He didn't make anything until he was about 40. His first few years at the Score was probably a modest salary and then he made a million per year for about 5 or 6 years. Looks like he and Bebe thought they knew what they were doing in the real estate game. I guess they didn't.

Comcast paid Pappy shit. Pappy thought he could sell ads and failed there. I don't think this WBBM job pays well. They have 6 talent people on the show and nobody watches. How could any one of those 6 people be making more than 70k? Plus I would think Jiggs and that lady make the most since they talk the most. That's decent money but it's not the 800k that Pappy turned down at the Score.

North noted that as part of the sale, he'll include 1,000 shares of Webio stock, three used Affliction T-Shirts, 3 tubes of Brylcreem, a mahogany end table, $60,000 worth of architectural drawings for the two houses that he and his relatives had planned to build. The Norths had commissioned plans for a 9,000-square-foot mansion, while his wife's sister had drawn up plans for a 7,000-square-foot house.
