Best player on the team and probably the best PG in the East.

What a series for the Suns.

2nd round has been pretty dull, only one good matchup and a good probability of 3 sweeps

The conference finals will be great. I love Kobe and the Lakers but I really can't see them or Cleveland beating the Magic. I could even see both of them getting swept. More likely the Cavs than the Lakers though.

So the Hawks are done as this formulation. It was fun for a few years but all runs must end. in the end, they maxed out at the 2nd round, couldn't get any further. I actually have a wild theory that may sound like sour grapes, but i think they might actually be better- or just as good- without Johnson and Woodson. First of all, Woodson is gone. And pretty much anything aside from Vinnie would be an upgrade. Secondly, I think the offense will flow much better without the "iso Joe". No doubt, he single handedly won a few of those Celtics games, but in the end he couldn't really lead them anywhere and way too often the offense came to a grinding halt with him. Fine if you're averaging 30, but when you're averaging 14 on 33% shooting, not going to cut it. He had a terrible playoffs this year. They wouldn't have beaten the Bucks if they had Bogut. There is no way he's a max player. Assuming Maurice Evans picks up his 2.5 mil option for next year (may or may not, assuming he will) and w/o Joe, Hawks will have nearly 10 mil in cap space to sign a FA. I think if they can get some kind of inside presence for that they will be really solid. Were it me, I'd bench Bibby, start Teague and develop him- I think he's got some skills especially on the defensive end. Start Crawford at 2. And try and see if you can get a David Lee or one of the lower tier FA's for that 10 mil.

Sounds like you are trying to convince yourself they will be ok when Johnson leaves this summer. Is it working?

well so what if they kept him? another year or getting swept in the 2nd round?

depending on what they do to replace him they might be slightly worse, but at the same time I'm intrigued by what a new coach could bring to the offense and how Horford and Smith may develop offensively under a different system. Horford had a really strong game 3 in the first half then they totally stopped going to him in the 2nd half for their traditionial isolation game. i think if they featured the other players more it could be good for them

Sorry to see the Hawks go out like that but I agree with the fact
that they have a lot of young talent, and maybe a new coach could
shake things up for them in a positive way.

If the NBA playoffs is the very best bb played (as some have told me) then I would rather watch a pick-up game at the park.....so far these playoffs have sucked! Dispute that :bom:

there have been a few clunker series', sure, but overall I think they've been pretty good and we're not even near the main event yet. even the spurs-suns and jazz-lakers sweeps were still pretty entertaining series. of course the magic-hawks, hawks-bucks and magic-bobcats were just god awful bad

You would think the Phoenix Suns & L.A. Lakers would tipoff the NBA Western Conference Finals this weekend, right? Wrong. Despite sweeping the San Antonio Spurs & Utah Jazz respectively last night, the Western Finals won't start until next MONDAY at STAPLES Center. It's probably in large part due to television, but that's too long between games!

i haven't been interested at all in this playoff round. aside from the suns, very predictable.

cavs show again that one guy can't do it all...and lebron was *brutal* tonight.

magic/celtics does nothing for me. hate the celtics, and i hate the magic coach with a passion.

That's not a one man team anymore. LeBron gets the blame for this loss. He doesn't look like he is interested. In some ways he looks scared. He has that MJ look after being in debt with John Gotti.

this team is not built to win anything. just like the mavericks, they're missing vital pieces. shaq is a ghost.

Come on you are really understating their team. They have more talent around him than they've ever had. They were the best team in the league and made more 3's than any other team but Orlando. Most of this came before Jamison. LeBron just isn't playing with a sense of urgency. Shaq scored 20+ points tonight and LeBron didn't show up.

I agree. This really is the best Cleveland squad Lebron has had in his career. Maybe Lebron is hurting more than the reports say.

I wouldn't say the series is over though. In Cleveland's two wins so far, they embarassed the Celtics. That can easily happen again in Games 6 & 7.

they play in the east which has 2 other *really* good teams, a few *decent* teams and then a bunch of hot garbage. lebron just proved if you take him off the team (because he was practically invisible last night) they're basically the bulls or worse.

this doesn't surprise me at all. they don't match up well against the celtics in a 7 game series, because the celtics have greater talent and somehow are more agile and quick than the cavs are.

I think a lot of people, including myself, also underestimated Boston as well. How many times did we read that Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen are on their last legs? How many times did I read about Boston's struggling defense? They haven't won the series yet, but I have to give the Celtics a lot of credit to this point as well as continue to question the supporting cast that the Cavs have around James.
