I thought the same thing. Not just Theriot, but many MLB shortstops can't make that throw.

Huge hit by Nady, after Colvin gets schooled.

Good to see his glove is settling down and certainly good to see a major league arm again at SS. Nice to see the farm system actually producing results.

It was a better than good play, but nothing over the top spectacular by any means. He went to the hole, backhanded the ball, planted his right foot,...quick release, over the top throw....on a line...to Lee to beat the runner by a half step.

Very nice to see. Theriot does not make that play.

does theriot make those 5 routine errors that castro has made? i confess i havent seen ALL of his errors, but i have seen at least 3 of them that were terrible. im all good with castro, hes young and will likely be a pretty good fielder, but i havent liked some of the approaches to routine grounders ive seen from him, even on plays he makes outs on.

i love range and great arms and razzle-dazzle, but i hope he can make the routine plays no-brainers.

Fukudome 9
Theriot 4
Lee 3
Byrd 8
Soriano 7
Fontenot 5
Castro 6
Hill 2
Dempster 1

Soto predictably benched with the Night/Day quick turn around.

Agree 100%. Its bad as a fan when you are watching a routine grounder to short and hoping he doesn't F it up.

Disagree 100%. I have not once said that as I see a grounder hit to short, like I would a fly to left. Put nerves into consideration, and how he has played at short since those first couple games at Wrigley. And even the games before. He is going to be excellent at short.

you disagree that he needs to improve on routine plays? i never said he sucked, but as a young player he needs to improve. if you think he is fine as is with no room for improvement, great.

Theriot might not make 5 errors. But he probably woulda had 5 plays where he couldnt get to the ball or didnt throw it because of his weak arm not being able to get a fast runner.

MOFO, why so serious all the time?

Isn't this kid like 19 or 20?

Give him a break. Him and Beckham. Christ, I'm 26 and can barely tie my shoes let alone be an MLB infielder. These guys will get better.

Ramirez has a sore thumb. I guess it gets sore when you have it up your ass for two months.

i said the kid was going to be good, im just stating that his approach to ground balls looks a bit flashy, and i hope routine grounders his way become no-brainers. id didnt say anything negative about him that requires me to "give him a break".
internet correspondence is very serious business. very serious.

Pat just said the Cubs are leading the league in runs scored with 2 outs. 88 of them. Hard to believe.

Maybe you shouldn't grove a ball to Rollins on a 3-0 count and just walk him Demp. Just a tough

Again, Lou demonstrating his managerial prowess by pinch hitting Tyler Colvin for Hill (when you have to bring Soto in the game anyways if you are going to do that), but he made it extra special by hitting Nady for Dempster

4 players burned, two at bats. Super.

Oh, and Soto, the one who didn't bat, is having the best year out of any of them.

Fire Lou.

Fukudome with a home run against a lefty? All of Lou's world must be crumbling down around him.

i'm not a cubs fan, moreover i'm an expos fan (in 2000 i saw vlad once and was like game over, man, game over. then found out about the plight etc)

so i want to say that honestly

that AB by ramirez was one of the worst at bats i've seen by a cub. he got down early, worked the count back to 2-2, then didn't even flail he just literally waved at a pitch like 2 feet outside of the zone.

so runners at first and third no outs... now soto pops out to howard in foul ground and the cubs can't even hit a decent fly ball to tie the fucking game?! jesus. this shit is horrible.

ramirez had a 3 & 2 count and swung at a ball so far outside the catcher had to jump out to catch it. TERRIBLE.

1st & 3rd...no outs....strikeout strikeout popout. Rotten bastards!

What happened. Soto popped up...did Aramis get the pinch hit AB after and strike out?

Yeah Jose Contreras broke the internet

that was beyond pathetic. contreras cant find the strike zone to save his life. soriano and fontenot have 2 fantastic at bats to put the cubs in prime position to tie the game at the very worst and these three knuckleheads come up and wave the bat at every ball within 3 feet of the plate. castro ok hes a 20 year old kid trying to impress. excusable i suppose. but aramis ramirez?? i havent seen a guy go in the tank this bad in a while. until this year if you had asked me what cub i DO want up in this situation is ramirez without hesitation. now i dont even want to see this guy in the starting lineup. what kind of major league hitter swings at a pitch that wouldve went behind a left handed batter?

and fuck john grabow. thats all

Seriously, why is he even on the team?? He is supposedly an eighth inning man who cant throw strikes or get outs consistently.
