Fred Mitchell is a P.o.C! Plain and simple. There was no reason for him to ask Butkus anything and what that other crazy old coot had to say. I'm a Bears fan through and through and what Butkus and Sayers had to say are 100% WRONG! No we all know that both are aging and they want the Bears to win now. But Sayers doesnt have any room to talk. I understand he is considered a Bear great but he didnt win. Bottom line. Same for Butkus. Urlacher brought his defense to the Super Bowl. Can't say that about either one of them. Sayers is all about his personal stats. He makes his mark on them. At the end of Urlacher career I bet he won't walk around the town on how well he did, but what he will do is say he was on some great teams and they won some games. He's not a me guy. He never did, never will. I hope when I'm old and gray and want to talk about Bear legends that people will recognize what he brought to the teams he played on. In my mind he is one heck of damn good football player and glad the Bears drafted him.

So how many times did they have to paddle you in order to show your dedication to the brothers?

Paddling and Homoerotic "hazing" aside, Sayers is kind of an asshole.

Walter was number 1 before he became number 1. I've never seen anybody give so much back...to people.

Gale Sayers' criticism about his former team is nothing new. The Hall-of-Fame Bears' running back has always bitched & moaned about the team, but that being said, he has a right to his opinion like everyone else. This despite my own opinion that Sayers has always come off kinda pompous & arrogant whenever he's been interviewed. Brian Urlacher & Dick Butkus also have rights to their opinions, even if Joe Bears' Fan doesn't agree with any of them.

Building your poster of the year portfolio off of commercials from the webstream could prove disastrous. How about instead of updating your status that you update a third world country?

Looks like all the old Bears just want some attention. Only in Chicago is it possible to get worshiped for being a failure and not maximizing your team.

Totally, just look at Sayer's numbers for his career. His best year was 1200+ yds. rushing. Its good. Not great. For example Thomas Jones had a 1300+ at the same age Sayer was and what did the Bears do?? Release him. I think at the time Sayer was around it was about finding a so-called great and he fit that bill because of the numbers he put up.

I think it's time you learned about denominators.

Let me handle it.

You have 1,200 cans of Natty Light. You only have 14 ruffies. That's about 85 beers to every ruffie.
You have 1,300 cans of Natty Light. You have 16 ruffies. That's about 81 beers to every ruffie.

Even though you actually have more cans of Natty Light, it's not as much on a per ruffie basis.

If you think so. I'm just using an example. I'm sure you can use a ton of players as examples. Basically, I question the fact of Mr Sayers being an all time great. I just don't see it. THat's my opinion.

Ummmm...just for the record. Thomas Jones played in 15 games that year. So check your denominators.

You never saw the guy play, did you? His baseball equivalent would be Sandy Koufax.

Sayers averaged a yard more per carry in his "just over 1200 yard" season than in Jones's "over 1300 yard" season.

Also, keep in mind that Sayers had more receiving yards too. Jones' best rec/rush season is 98.5 a game. Sayers was 119.85. Jones also had about 80 more total touches.

One thing is for sure. Sayers couldn't hold the jock of a one MICKEY CHARLES MANTLE!!

Also keep in mind that Sayers played in Wrigley Field, home to all losers. :P

JORR doesnt need me to speak for him, but I will anyway.

The comparison is two Superstars in their sports who had shortened careers.

Comparing Thomas Jones to Gayle Sayers is ridiculous.

Not gonna argue with you there but numbers are comparable. Again, plug in any other player. Another example would be Terrel Davis. Shortened career outstanding numbers. Whatever, the point is Gayle is not all that and a bag of chips. But to use Sandy Koufax as a comparison is just as recockulous.
