5/25 Kershaw (4-2 3.23ERA) vs. Dempster (2-4 3.73ERA) W 3-0
5/26 Billingsley (5-2 3.66ERA) vs. Gorzelanny (2-4 3.09)
5/27 Ely (3-1 3.41ERA) vs. Lilly (1-4 4.30ERA)

Been playing better ball of late. Ethier is on the DL. I see us taking the bookends of this series.

I've said it before and I'll say it again...I will never understand why Lou stacks the lineup with righties against a lefty. It's not like you're facing Randy Johnson, circa 1996.
An all righty lineup lets the pitcher get into a rhythm. I just don't get it.

 Lee Smith just had one of those 7th-inning stretch moments that will be talked about for weeks to come (and probably replayed tomorrow on all of the talk shows).

He could not get the organ to start playing with him to save his life. He did the usual "One, two, three" except he did it very low and slow, essentially inaudible. Then he sat there for an eternity doing nothing, no organ, no nothing - just stared to his left toward Gary Pressey. Then he tried to sing, but stopped and started that (still without organ) several times. Finally the organ just started playing and he caught up somewhere in the second line. I believe the Hawks players were laughing at him when they flashed to them.

I hate to say this but this is beginning to remind me of 07. Terrible start and then they started to remember the idea is to score more runs than the other team.

Unfortunately the Cardinals appear stronger than the 07 Brewers.

Pennants aren't won in April but they can be essentially lost in April. Prime example recent memory? The 05 Indians who had a bad start and the Sox built an early lead and they weren't able to catch up.

Howry's slider was, ah, sliding. Hmmm.

Okay, enough of this guy playing in his 5th game throwing 1 hit ball.

Hopefully you can keep your prediction streak going. Was nice to see them win without relying on the long ball a few times.

I have been watching baseball for quite awhile and I can't remember any pitcher making MLB hitters look as stupid as Marmol does.
No one should ever swing and just hope he walks them. Manny, being Manny, missed a slider by a foot and a half. How long before Marmol's elbow explodes?

Lou just said that baker went temporarly blind in one eye (on the play where the ball was hit right at him and he did nothing).
I think he was woolgathering. Was NOT in a flielding position (knees bent, hands low). nope, he had his legs straight, knees locked. I think he wasn't paying attention, a ball was hit right fuckling at him. Being temporarly blind? really? At that exact moment? You didn't think to call for time when you went blind? You just... thought it was ok?
Weird.

His K/9 is 17.49 and that was before striking out 3 in this last save. 17 strikeouts! Amazing.

Dan, those are sick numbers. The nice thing is his arm has very little mileage on it. I can't imagine the torque his elbow carries throwing that slider.
It looks like he has a rubber arm. So, perhaps he can handle it.

Came to make a smart-ass Dave Dravecky comment ... then learned they chopped his arm off a long time ago. I decided to pass on that comparison; I'm off to go throw-up.

Trying to lose weight, huh, Donald? Research shows bulimia definitely can help. Just remember to brush your teeth afterward.

I'm half-bulimic ...

Very nicely set-up by Reason for the tip-in

Weird.

Bakers temporary blindless is fine now. So, he's ok. Almost as though it never happened.
