You really can't feel comfortable about two of three of these pitching match ups. Looks like it'll be a AAA call up for Saturday's game Gotta get two of these and I think we will.

Carpenter and Wainwright are outstanding, but if Dempster and Wells pitch as well as they are capable (and Dempster did in his last outing) they can still win those games. I'm interested in seeing how Silva fares against the Cards too. He's lived a charmed life so far as a Cub. I hope that continues against the Cardinals hitters.

Heard that Larussa switched around...or lined up his rotation specifically so that Carpenter & Wainright both pitched in this series. That tells me how important he thinks these games are, and how they (the cardinals) are going to approach the series.

Wells has been bad, he should be the odd man out when Z is back in the rotation. Grabow should be released, but Ricketts doesn't have the nuts to do that.

I was surprised to see that this afternoon's game was the first matchup for the Cubs vs. the Cardinals.

The Reds and Cardinals have playe nine times this year.

I am game for this. Wells is young and can learn from a trip to the pen especially if he thought he was hot shit before that pitt game. I would rather pay Grabow 7 mil to never step foot near a cubs game again unless he is on the other team.

while im a big fan of randy wells and what he did last year and parts of this year, hes been really inconsistent in the early part of this season. i think its definitely between him and gorzellany for who leaves the rotation. neither has really impressed me recently. i think wells could learn more from a trip to the pen

it was only a matter of time for either one of them. maybe lou should go back to that idea of starting the game with the bullpen and ending with his starter. who cares at this point...it all sucks equally.
