Hockey sucks because it's most compelling feature is the surface that it is played on. But for the ice, none of the moves and manuevers are remarkable. It would be like playing baseball but with blindfolds. It's amazing because of the element and not really the athelete.

Its the names.

Even when I dont actively follow a sport (NCAA Hoops) if you watch Sportscenter youre bound to hear and learn the names.

It doesnt work when its Fhsal;kjdshg;jshg; had a hat trick last night

But seriously the name thing makes it difficult. I probably know as many NASCAR drivers as hockey players because they use a pool of 5 first names.

It sucks because Stan Mikita had a perfect opportunity to open a donut place after Wayne's World and he never did. The investment would have been minimal and the payoff would have been big but he did not go through with it.

It also sucks because Jim Belushi likes it. I was listening to the Cubs radio broadcast on Saturday. It featured Belushi before his 7th inning sing along. He said his band plays 50-60 gigs a year. Who the hell is booking that guy to play that much in a year?

What I don't understand is how something that is so shitty can produce video games that are so great... :wink:

The early to mid nineties NHL games on the Genesis were some of the best games I've ever played...especially the year where they introduced goalie control...

I plan on watching the next game. Haven't watched a complete game since I watched the Stars win the Stanley Cup in overtime. It was a great game but I haven't been able to watch more than a period since.
